Sarawak is offering you the true meaning of multiracial and harmony. Get to know thru the foods. Go to restaurants that local people goes to, you will hear multiple language - chinese, malay, iban, bidayuh & others. Then you see the faces, very hard to differentiate what ethnicity they belongs to. In a local kopitiam, you may see some stall serving halal and some service non-halal. There no problem with them sit together under one roof. Next you go to morning market (Pasar Tamu), you can see fresh vegetable ranging from normal vegetable that you consume to wild vegetables. They also reading ready to eat street food. You will learn more about the culture and people if you go to Pasar Tamu. If you in Kuching city, do not miss Pasar Tamu at Kubah Ria ( Used to known as Pasar Satok). Only opens on Saturday or Sunday. Get ready to bring you smart phone to take the pictures, bring small change RM1/5/20/20/50 to buy some local foods.

After the death of grandma we didn't get to have the usual food tour, however James was kind enough to ring the night before and said we would 'wing it' on the day. 'Winging it' turned out to ba a fabulous day on the hop with so many things to see, eat and do. James has amazing local knowledge and it is clear from his enthusiasm that he loves doing what he does. Thank you so much James for making our day in Kuching a memorable one and one we won't forget. Jeni and Nan

Whilst the cultural and natural beauty are amongst the key reasons to visit this city, one should experience the unique and authenticity of Sarawakian food, rarely found in West Malaysia. The must have's include kolo mee (noddles), fu-cha burger, Sarawak laksa, tomato mee(noddles), popiah, "cucur udang", and dumplings. Don't forget to compliment your food with the iced 3-layered tea. Engage the locals who may be able to direct you to their favorite food joints. Bon Apetit!! 😄

Visit Malaysia, you must visit Kuching in Sarawak. In Sarawak you can find the most friendly people regardless of where u come from. The people here consist of many races such as chinese, malay, Indian and the sarawak ethnic groups like the Iban, Melanau, Penan, Kayan, Bidayu. people live together in harmony and visit each other having open house invitation during festival (Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Christmas and Gawai) Here you can find the most diversify foods. Family of 4 ( 2 kids age 17y and 14y ), 2 big luggage 15kg each and two hand carry bag.

Day 1 - Fly down to Kuching airport . Rent a CAR in advance min RM100/day for a economical and comfort one . I took PROTON SAGA FLX 1.3 as it has bigger luggage space. The petrol consumption is very low. if you take TAXI its will cost you a bomb in long journey if you are going places like i went and also you will loose a lot of time. Time = money. I got mine from Kuching Car Rental ( www.kuching-car-rental.com) Made booking with James @60149999688. The arrangement was perfect when i touch down the car was ready at the airport.
I booked a room in Damai Puri sea view, we stayed at room 1321 & 1322 it had a great pool and beach view. So take a morning flight down to Kuching, drive the rental car down to Damai Puri Resort, check on your room status first when arrive. Check in is only at 3pm. Park your car with luggage in the Hotel Car park and walk down to the Kuching Culture Village, ticket is RM60 per person, start you Kuching trip with this program. Make sure you take the 1st show at 11.30am then have lunch there and start your visit within the culture village. We completed our program at 3 pm and check in to Damai Puri.Took a good rest at the pool and sea side.
Night went out to DAMAI center, 5 min walk from the hotel and right across the Culture village. Its a litte dark but its safe. You can find cheaper food here, there is also a food court. We went to ESCOBAR its nice and cosy restaurant overlooking the seaside. The food is good. The only thing you should watch out for is the crowd, once there is big crown in this restaurant the management cant handle it. My second night having dinner here I really got mad as had to wait for 1.5 hr for food and other after me was getting theirs first as there was a mix up. So if there is a big crowd don't eat here.
Day 2 - Went to Bako National park. Best is go in the morning, boat service starts at 7.30am~4pm. We went after lunch and was stuck due to water tide problem, the boats there really demands on the tide, many visitors wasted their time waiting for high tide. Take note there is two location in this area , one is the BAKO terminal where you can drive to, then you need to take a boat ride to the BAKO national park HQ, the boat return back is last 4pm. It takes about 25 min to reach there. If you want to go tracking you should go early morning, take the boat, go hiking on the best trail you want base on your energy level and trail distance. Take the last boat back by 4pm. We charter the whole boat for 4person for RM160 both ways. Went back to Damai Puri and had a good swim in the sea and pool, had dinner at ESCOBAR, Damai Center again
Day 3- Check out and move to town center Hotel, Kuching riverside. We booked TUNE hotel Riverside as we just wanted a nice clean place to sleep as most of the day we are out exploring Kuching town. After check out from Damai Puri we drove to Wind CAVE and FAiry CAve and then went to a boarder market Serikin The town is located about 15 km from Bau town and 80 km from Kuching city. You can buy cheap souvenir here, its worth a visit only if you are visiting the caves here.
Check in to TUNE hotel once back and went for a riverside walk ( must do )
Day 4 -Visit Cat museum, took the River Cruse 5~7.30pm-EQUATORIAL ( 50% discount if you stay at TUNE hotel ), Dinner at James Brooke Bistro and cafe by the riverside.
Day 5 - Free and easy shopping. Note : one best place to buy last minute souvenirs is the Kuching Central close to the airport.
Note : Make sure you travel with a small foldable umbrella and cap as it rainy season now. Best place for breakfast in Kuching Town is “ KOPI O CORNER” at Jalan Satok fast service even if packed with people.
