I was staying here with friends in July 2010. I could only choose dates from 2016 until 2015, so that isn't right. When we arrived the place was filthy, the whole apartments (group) were not cleaned well and the pans still had food in it. Also the refrigerator contained eggshells and other dirty stuff. What you couldn't do here: - Book excursions (could do it outside easily though) - Cook your own meal - Shower with hot water (depended, was limited) - Talk to staff or reception What you could do here: + Walk to the bar street in less than 5 minutes + Go out until whenever you want, take people with you + Organize an afterparty + Visit the rooftop + Swim at night + Do other crazy stuff, since there is no staff or anything around We were staying there with 8 friends, and were like 19-21 years old. We really had a fun time there because we were literally there to party 24/7. But still the apartment and area were gross, but it didn't bother us that much that time. Would you want to stay in a more clean apartment and have some more comfort then do not book this!…
rented an appartment expecting the worst due to the price, was a bit of a joke between me and my mates who were at a nearby 4* but when i got there it was fine. The location was great, town and beach very close by. When my mates came to mock me they were gutted as they'd just paid over 5 times more than me for rooms not as good. Negatives - got bitten a lot in the night but I cant really blame Blur Star for that. It was unstaffed, which I found weird, just a message on the door and a key when i arrived, never saw anyone who worked there the whole time. Overall though, if you're not after luxury just somewhere to crash after a nights drinking or a base if you're travelling you cant beat the value.
this was a really cheap last minute deal so we knew it wasn't going to be brilliant. We've been to Hersonissos lots of times before so at the time of booking, all we were interested in was the hotel's location which by the way was great - just 2 mins walk from the beach and resort centre. Unfortunately the location was the only good thing about the place! Aparently the apartments were given a new name at the biginning of the year and as a result, our bus driver spent the best part of 2 hours driving around the resort trying to find the place. The bus finally dropped us off in the middle of the night at the bottom of a dirt track lined with an array of rubble and junk (including a broken toilet), and we were told we'd find our apartment at the end of the dirt track. upon arrival, we found the reception in darkness and just a note had been left on the door with directions to our room. The the first thing we noticed about the room was a leaky sink that would have been dripping all over the tiled bathroom floor, had the cleaner not kindly left a bucket under it to catch the drips. We thought about complaining but decided as it was 3am, we'd wait till morning. Unfortunately, we soon realised that no matter what time of the day or dight, reception was never open so we were completely stuck with the room we were given which was pretty grim. The shutters on the windows were too rusty to open so the room was always in darkness and the wardrobe smelled of mould so we couldn't hang our clothes up. after about 6pm each day, the chances were there'd be no hot water left so most nights we had to have a cold shower. in the kitchen, we had one electrical socket for the fridge, the kettle and the microwave so we had to keep swapping the plugs about and try to remember to plug the fridge back in at the end! The cooker didn't work. Unfortunately we didn't know it didn't work until after we'd spent €50 on food to cook on it. Although when we first arrived the room was fairly clean, the cleaners actually only came once in the whole week we were there (not even just to empty the bins) and when they did come the sheets and towels weren't changed, just folded up and put back. Our next door neighbours were a group of 4 loud, obnoxious, filthy young lads from Holland who insisted on playing the same CD on loop all day long as loud as they could. we had to share a balcony with them and because the cleaners came so infrequently, and because our neighbours were completely incapable of putting anything in the bin, the balcony was soon covered in empty beer cans, half-eaten plates of food, overflowing ash trays and for some reason tissues covered in blood. When our neighbours finally moved out, it actually took 3 days for the cleaners to come and clean it all up! The rest of the hotel was full of groups of young Dutch people who were also very noisy. Believe it or not we actually go to Hersonissos for the nightlife and tend to roll in from the bars at about 3am however the Dutch seem to take this to a new extreme arriving back an hour or so after we'd gone to bed in huge groups and playing their music as loud as possible till 6 or 7am. So I suppose the moral of this story is you do get what you pay for and in future we definitely won't be booking a hotel based entirely on its location!…
