My daughter had the opportunity to shadow a Vet in Brenham and I was looking for a place we could stay. I came upon Nueces Ranch and spoke with the owner Angel'e on the phone. I had told her what I was looking for and she delivered soooo much more. My daughter is a seasoned and experienced horse rider and had never ridden a Cutting Horse. Constantine the owner gave my daughter lessons each evening we were there for an additional cost. The memories we made at Nueces Ranch will last a life time. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very spacious. They have a room for breakfast if you wanted, but we are not big breakfast people so Ange'le left food out for us to snack on and most the time we snacked at night.

My daughter & I needed closest location to Burton - this is it! This is also one of the best locations for the Round Top Antique Market. There is no soda/snack machine, but I always travel w/ a small ice chest for water, soda, etc. No restaurant but I am always looking for the best local places. I'm glad I found Burton Cafe' (great meals, deserts, music & people), Kay's Cuisine for the Soul & a couple of places on the way to Round Top Markets. I didn't think anything was dirty, but maybe needed to be aired/freshened. I had no problem contacting the owners - before or during our stay. I was given a cell # as an additional way to keep in touch if I needed anything - but I also saw them around the property everyday. I was taken care of when I was late cking in & when I locked myself out (after 10pm).…

My disappointment began when I opened the door to the room. The smoke detector was beeping because it needed a new battery. I called and had it replaced. I was just about to doze off and it began beeping again constantly and loudly. We removed the battery so we could sleep. There was mold on the shower curtain. The toilet was dirty and you were not supposed to put paper in the toilet because they are on septic. I requested an iron and was told to go to the "Hospitality Suite" to get one, but couldn't be provided an ironing board. Try ironing a shirt without one!
They advertise on their website that they have are a working horse and cattle ranch with flowing rivers, stocked lakes with gazeebo's and paddle boats, a full service restaurant, and walking trails. I think they say they have over 100 acres. The woman who owns the property however has sold off most of it and so we were very dissapointed to find that none of the above was available. The rooms in the guest house are average at best, very musty and seemed un-used. We could not find anyone who worked there to inquire about the location of the facilities. Fortunately the only other quests there managed to locate the owner by phone and found out that everything had been sold off. There was a horse arena, but few horses and no shows as promised. We really were excited about taking the girls to a working cutting horse ranch and letting them see the demos and walk the trails....needless to say we were dissapointed. [-]…
