Having never visited Japan before, I was apprehensive in advance of our arrival... where to go, what to see, what to eat, etc? All of my questions and concerns were immediately put to rest when we had the great good fortune of meeting our guide, Mr. May Takahashi. Sharing an afternoon with "MaySan" was a wonderful experience. He tailored our tour to the areas and activities that were of most interest to us and answered all of our questions with thoughtful and detailed responses. Beyond simply leading us and pointing out sites of interest, May guided and encouraged us to engage in traditional activities, such as the traditional washing hands at a temple and trying different street foods. He was thoroughly prepared to support all of our activities with information, personal insights and even hand towels when needed. He was also a superb photographer and captured many of our special moments. May was vigilant at all times to ensure that we were well cared for, to include gently moving us out of harms way when cars or bikes would unexpectedly appear. Most significantly, through both his demeanor and words, May shared his deeply felt respect and regard for his community, his culture and his history. We feel incredibly grateful for having had the privilege of meeting Mr. May Takahashi and we look forward to visiting him again when we return to Tokyo. I recommend him unreservedly and thank him for our extraordinary time together.

Not a good use of our time. We spent almost 2 hours at the first stop (Imperial Palace). Our guide did not answer most of our questions - he just ignored it or gave an answer to an unrelated question. I don't feel like he was listening to us as we had tickets to an event at 2:00. We told him repeatedly we would have to be there by 2:00 and would ideally like to eat before we go. We went to the second location and again asked if he was sure we could make it back to the 2:00 reservation. He ignored our concern so we googled how to get there and showed him how far it was but he forged ahead so we followed. When we got to the 3rd location, we could not stay (literally had to get right back on the train from hence we came) in order to be 20 minutes late for the 2:00 appointment. At least half of our time was spent on transportation.

My son and I came to Japan for the first time and decided to try the Tokyo Half-Day Private Tour on our first day in order to get acquainted with the city. Our tour guide Yuko was exceptional. She reached out to us in advance of our trip in order to determine our interests and put together a tour plan that mixed traditional and modern locations, keeping in mind that she was also guiding a 14-year-old. She did a fantastic job showing us around Meiji shrine, Harajuku and Shibuya. After only a few minutes my son and I felt like we were visiting the city with a friend rather than a tour guide. Yuko was a pleasure to spend time with and we are grateful for her time and patience as we navigated this wonderful city. We highly recommend this half-day tour for first timers like us! Arigatō Yuko!

May was a fantastic guide who, after several discussions prior to the visit, encouraged
me to consider what kind of experience I wanted. This was my first visit to Tokyo. I wanted a low stress manageable tour and it did not disappoint. At every step May was available to answer questions and provide personal insights. He was very easy to work with and listened as we wandered around, He introduced me to a variety of wonderful sweet. May picked me up and returned me to my hotel which was a benefit!! I would definitely hire him again. Thank you May.

I had booked 2 tours, one in Tokyo and one in Kyoto in 2 separate transactions. I had been in contact with the guide for Tokyo already and was very impressed by the quick response and was looking forward to my tour. I decided to cancel my Kyoto tour due to some time constraints. So, I replied back to just the Kyoto tour and asked to cancel just the Kyoto tour. A day later I get a response that they canceled my Tokyo tour and not the Kyoto tour. I responded back immediately about their mistake and heard nothing else from them. The tour guide tried to intervene on our behalf as well and got no response. Finally someone responded that they had canceled all of my tours and sent a refund. There was never an apology or anything. So, now I am left without a guide and their bookings are not accepting anything for almost 2 months. So, I think the tours would be fantastic, but I feel that people should know that they might cancel a paid for tour and you may be left without a guide or an apology for their error.

Hiro was my guide and he was fantastic. He customized the tour to what I wanted to see and the time we had and generously went out of his way to bring to the Government Building to show me where the marathon would start a few days later. Really great tour.

Our guide, Sat, was extremely organised & professional, providing an excellent selection of sites based on our interest. We used public transport Criss-crossing across the city with the side of the transport cards provided. His insight & knowledge on the sites were excellent. Without Sat we would never have achieved this within our limited time-frame. We highly recommend booking this as an option for sight-seeing around Tokyo, particularly when time-constrained.

Booked a Half Day Private tour somewhat last minute, and we managed to get an amazing tour guide.
With only a half day, Kenji "Ken" Kasama had some notable areas of Tokyo for us to choose from to visit. We didn't factor in the Emperor's Birthday, a National Holiday, when we chose the Imperial Palace & Gardens, but Ken came prepared that morning with some alternatives.
Ken took us to the Meiji Shrine and Sensō-ji Temple, but managed to spare some extra time just outside of the Meiji Shrine grounds to show us Harajuku street and even a quick pitstop of the outer area of the Imperial Palace. We returned to Harajuku the following day, and without Ken we would never have known about it.
Conversations with Ken were easy and pleasant. He carried a very humble demeanor, but could also share a quick joke in there too. Ken was very knowledgeable with each area and would offer the fun facts about them, and would top it off with little tidbits of his own personal history if they were relevant.
Getting the tour, even if for a half day, is well worth every single cent. Had we walked around aimlessly at each location, we wouldn't have had even a 1/4 of the experience as we had gotten. I would imagine this would be true for all of the Gov't Licensed guides, but especially true with Ken!

My sister and I really enjoyed our tour with our guide, Keiko. She was always pleasant to converse with and very knowledgeable. She taught us about the customs and rituals, which were very interesting. Having a private guide allowed me to relax and not worry about the logistics of the trip for that day. Keiko's English was excellent, so we felt comfortable talking and didn't stress about our Japanese proficiency.
If we ever return to Japan I will definitely book another guided tour. I highly recommend this experience. Thank you for making our vacation enjoyable and memorable.

We took this half day tour with Tatsuo. It was fantastic. Tatsuo made several suggestions and we told him go with his plan. We took in the fish market, temples, Buddha, sky tower and the market. Very informative and helpful guide. We were totally impressed. Highly recommend.

Hello,
My friend and I are coming to Japan for an escorted group tour arriving in Tokyo on March 24th with a free day on March 25th. If possible, we would like to arrange for a private tour for the two of us. Meet at our hotel, Grand Nikki Tokyo Daiba at 11 am and take the train to Kamakura and spend some time there. We would like to have dinner that night in a Maid Cafe and perhaps see cherry blossom places not on our escorted tour and see interesting night time places in the evening with neon lights. Probable return to hotel would be 8 to 9 pm. Is this possible? If so what would the cost be? Our escorted group tour includes the fish market, Fukagawa Edo Museum and garden, Asakusa, Harajuku, Shibuya scrumble crossing, and Shibuya Hachiku.
We are interested in good photos and off the beaten path, authentic Japan, and something unique not included in our escorted tour.

Hello, it sounds fantastic! It’s possible to enjoy your dream tour. (Little bit a tough, though)
It takes 90min from your hotel to Kamakura and spend 3 hours to see major sightseeing spots including photogenic bamboo temple and enjoyable shop street. Then back to Tokyo and stop by Chidorigafuchi Park or Ueno Park for cherry blossoms on the way to Akihabara’s maid coffee. After dinner, you have a time to stroll neon and shopping street in Ginza and Shinbashi before you get your hotel.
