Mishaps and good fortune
We had a spectacular time. Duncan the dumpster diver was really a lot of fun. He coined his own name on this day so kind of inside joke but he went the extra mile (beyond elbow deep) to make sure we had a great day. He knew local history and made the day enjoyable. We also bumped into Jan one of the other tour guides and she was great too.

Great tour I can highly recommend. Driver and guide Jan was excellent and the tour gave us a real insight into the present day and history of the area. The Māori village visit was just amazing.

Recommend this diverse tour from Auckland

Great, diverse itinerary. Hobbiton was beautiful and peaceful. A very good guide (provided by the location.) Would recommend even if you aren’t a LOR fanatic (but don’t expect to see Hogwarts.). The cave was interesting and made a good contrast from the morning. It was not as extensive of a Glowworm experience than I expected but we did learn a lot about caves in general. Again, a site-provided guide who was awesome! No photos inside the cave. The driver provided by the company was good. Not chatty but fully willing to answer any questions we had. There is A LOT of driving in this day (including some winding backroads) so the clean, smaller-size van was a plus, although seats were tight. The pickup seemed a little early -earlier than the time in the booking. While this was to allow for hotel pick-ups and possible traffic, we still arrived at Hobbiton an hour before they opened. Still, a really nice day and we felt totally secure that our driver knew what he was doing and would do so safely.

Fantastic tour
This was such a wonderful experience. Jan c. Was our tour guide. She was knowledgeable, funny and entertaining all day. She made all of us in a group of 19 feel well liked and valued. She went everywhere with us even into the whaka village and would ensure we would get the best photo spots and viewing locations. Sharing funny antidotes along the way.
I would highly recommend this company and tour. Thanks again for a memorable experience.

Too much wasted time
Went on this tour and was disappointed. We made a short stop on the street with with kiwi trees, but did not get out of the bus.
We then went to a redwood forest, and the guy sat at a picnic table, cutting up, seaweed and serving samples along with kiwi juice. This lasted for 45 minutes. Then when we got back on the bus, the driver yelled at people about getting back in a timely manner, but the guy never gave the group a time to get back on the bus so several people lingered in the gift shop.
We were then dumped at a mall and told we had a half an hour to get lunch because we have been so delayed. A mall is about the last place. I wanted to go in and find my lunch. It was absolutely packed and it was a zoo. The only part of the excursion that we really thought was worthwhile was the trip to the Maori village. The geothermal pools and geysers were amazing. We walk through the village with a wonderful Maori guide, and then they did a show for us, which was really interesting. We could've skipped everything else on this tour.

Got better as it went!
Chaotic start. Names, buses, trips all mixed up. Excursion description did not provide the details of where we actually went. More confusing. First stop - kiwi farm, no bathroom. 2nd stop - redwoods, great. 3rd stop - food court, ugh. 4th stop - Mauri village, fantastic. Last stop - falls, amazing.

Jan our guide was very knowledgeable but held the mike too close to her mouth leading to a lot of bad noise. Sit up front to hear.

Ship excursion from Tauranga - Bus ride to Rotorua and back

Small excursion bus with driver guide Steven. 1.5 hour ride to Rotorua with brief stop at the Redwood Forest to use restrooms and look at big trees. We also stopped at a Kiwi farm for a brief look at how the Kiwi vines grow. Steven did a great commentary along the whole route. When we arrived at Rotorua, we were dropped at a big shopping mall food court so everyone could choose their own lunch and get done quickly in 40 minutes. After lunch we went to the living village for a demonstration of how a small number of Maori families live in the traditional ways among the thermal features, using them for cooking and heating. This tour ended with a traditional dance show that was very entertaining. On the bus ride back to Tauranga, we stopped at a waterfall that now flows on the remains of a decomissioned power plant. We saw as much as you could see in the time allotted.

Mehr ging nicht!
Die Organisation mit Zealandier Tours hat hervorragend geklappt. Unser Fahrer und Reiseleiter Stephan war ein Kenner von Land und Leuten. Er hat uns nicht nur Rotorura mit seinen heißen Quellen und das Living Māori Village näher gebracht, sondern konnte auch viel über Flora und Fauna, Lebensverhältnisse, Politik und Bildung erzählen. Dazu gab es noch Kiwi-Kostproben. Mehr ging nicht!
