We arrived independently at the gate. We paid our €10 for the only available official audio guide. Here's why we wish we hadn't.
1. The numbers on the map do not always correlate to the audio guide. Very frustrating!
2. The audio guide would appear to be out of date. Very irritating!
3. Thirty minutes in, the audio guide blanked out then demanded a digital code to be entered on a key pad on the screen. We had been efficient and photographed the 3 phone numbers to dial in an emergency. This was an emergency so we dialed all 3 numbers to ask what to code was. The 1st was unobtainable, the 2nd rang and rang, the 3rd gave a constant beep. Very useless!
4. We saw other visitors listening to their phones for commentary. We wished we had done that and not used the official audio guide.
5. We asked for compensation when we returned the audio guide. The guy at the kiosk shrugged and punched some numbers on the screen to make it work. 'You should have come back here' he said. At 35 mins back to the kiosk this was not an option. They asked for proof we had rung. We showed them. They had no intention of refunding. We expressed discontent. His manager got involved and actually smirked at us. Very unprofessional!
SO... our advice is... DO NOT USE THE AUDIO GUIDE. FIND AN ALTERNATIVE.

The first of our two devices stopped working after just a few meters, and the GPS function on the other stopped working after a short time. When we returned them, we pointed out that the devices were useless for us and asked if we could get a discount.
The employee's answer left us speechless - cheeky is not the word for what we had to listen to...
Warning - hands off! It's better to rent from the official place and pay a few euros more. You won't regret it.

Die Nummern der physischen Karte, mit der wir unseren Weg geplant hatten, stimmten nicht immer mit der digitalen Karte, über die die Audios angesteuert werden, überein. Außerdem liegen die Beschreibungen der Häuser manchmal entgegengesetzt zu dem Weg, der für die Besichtigung vorgeschriebenen war. Insgesamt war der Audioguide aber informativ und hat unser Pompeji-Erlebnis bereichert.

Siamo stati a Napoli pochi giorni e non potevamo non fare una piccola tappa a Pompei. Non avendo molto tempo a disposizione e volendo mantenere più autonomia e libertà nella visita, abbiamo optato per un'audioguida. Ero un po' diffidente data la mancanza di recensioni, ma una volta lì siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti dell'esperienza. A causa della pandemia, con il telefono (Huaweii) audioguida non vengono fornite le cuffie (e noi avevamo solo cuffie compatibili con Iphone), per cui abbiamo ascoltato le descrizioni con le casse altoparlanti. (consiglio di fornirvi di cuffie compatibili android per riuscire ad ascoltare meglio le registrazioni senza che si sovrappongano alle guide altrui). All'ingresso oltre all'audioguida viene fornita la mappa con indicati i colori e i numeri delle registrazioni da ascoltare tappa per tappa, inoltre fuori ad ogni struttura c'è un cartello che indica esattamente la registrazione da ascoltare. Siamo rimasti pienamente soddisfatti dell'organizzazione e della facilità d'uso dell'audioguida. Consiglio vivamente per coloro che preferiscono un tour più autonomo, dinamico e partecipato.
