We saw them!!! It was a particularly cloudy day, but the KP index was a 6 so Andres used his expert knowledge to find them for us in three separate locations! We got to stay and watch them until they disappeared and then we went to the next spot, he even drove us so we could stop for a coffee and a snack.
10/10 would recommend, there wasn’t a bus or coach in sight, and it was just us!!!

Dear Elli.
It was my pleasure to be with both of you. We catch also together however you are younger than I am, but age difference doesn´t mean always kind of barricade. You both are wide and clever enough with life experience in travelling. Based on what I noticed in all years of this work, that kind of travellers are more likely to enjoy in Iceland too since they are constanly comparing places they visited with Iceland and similar.
I would really wish to travel with you again. Maybe next time in different season so you can compare same country in different shapes and much stronger colour contrasts.

Andres was absolutely brilliant!
Andres helped me plan a proposal under the northern lights, and even though we sadly didn’t see them that evening, he still helped make the evening memorable & special.
He took us to a lighthouse, where I popped the question to my now fiancé. He took professional photos of the moment which he later sent to us.
The next day he kindly took us back to the lighthouse during daylight so we could see the views of where the proposal happened, and again took more photos of us.
Andres, thank you for everything you did for us. I recommend this man for your private tour, he really does go above and beyond!

I really enjoyed being with you both days as I am aware that kind of day comes only a few times in a lifetime. So why not do better? You both look very happy together and it is how it needs to be for a long long relationship.
I also told you this spot near the light tower may be good for memories and group photos with your children and grandchildren once you will come to that stage of life.

We had an amazing experience on our private tour thanks to Andres! He is very personable and shared so much with us about what life is like in Iceland. You can tell that his work comes from an authentic place and that he has an appreciation for meeting new people. He knew exactly where to go so that we could get the best chance at seeing the northern lights. They were breathtaking!!! We cannot thank him enough.

That night I didn´t even think about we wouldn´t get lights. But the search has been due to heavy clouds longer than normal. I enjoyed very much to be with your companionship since you are all so easygoing and passionate.
For me this season earlier in the month started just good, so there are more happy Iceland travellers and I am also happy for each and every one seeing the northern lights. To tell I have seen then, rest who cares, is very selfish, so my goal is higher. It is simply to catch lights in very heavy conditions which I made before.

Thank you for reviewing. I still am happy you have been able to hit that kind of night. The night before and night later as I remember weren´t been much promised due to clouds, however above it, the lights were strong.

Andres is the guide you want to find for every adventure. He is knowledgable about the lights and loves sharing and making sure you are having a good time. We went with him twice, he was eager to find the best spots at the moment (it changes from minute to minute!) and was able to make date changes based on viewing possibilities. Would book him again in a heartbeat. Fantastic tour, and the lights were mesmerizing!

I booked with Andres for a private tour to the northern lights in the hope of proposing to my girlfriend. Unfortunately, the downside of my entire trip was no northern lights visible due to heavy cloud coverage!
No fault of Andres of course and I can only compliment the planning and effort Andres went to in order to ensure there was a Plan B for such an event. He replanned a trip the following day to another location, The Bridge Between Two Continents, where he was patient and we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves for the special moment.
Besides the experience itself I can only compliment Andres for his amazing knowledge on all things (not just tour related) which made the experience the much more friendly and interesting.
I will definitely be booking again with Mercury Grail at least to tick the northern lights off my list and hopefully other tours too.
Thanks Andres for helping creating a memory that won’t be forgotten for the rest of mine and now my fiancés lives.

First, thank you very much for this five stars review. You both have been very outstanding travellers, and yes, I have done more since for that important step of life something more must be done.
I am very sorry for the northern lights. Especially because you came on time when they have been very strong, even strongest in the season. But they can´t break so heavy clouds as they have been during your stay in Iceland. And I am still more sorry since they appear very strong just a day after you left Iceland. Maybe is it a sign for you to return back?

If you’re looking for someone to take you on a private tour, look no further! Andres was so flexible and patient on our private northern lights tour. He found the lights very faintly initially, then said let’s go, have a cup of coffee and we’ll see them much better later. We then stopped next to a field with Icelandic horses that came over and let us pet them. We still didn’t see a spectacular view of the lights. We decided to head back having at least seen the lights, when we all spotted them dancing very brightly in the sky! He quickly whipped around and pulled off the road where we viewed in amazement! We will definitely do our tours with Andres when we come back, and I’ve already shared his info with friends and family!

Thank you very much for this wonderful review. The season is weird for me this time. Some days I am not sure at all if the weather would allow us to see anything due to other circumstances. It was on that way on your booking night. This also was a reason why I went to that area with horses. There is at least full darkness, and no mountains close to.
But it happens as you described night just became your wish, so I am very happy for you to see it since this tour was one of the priorities to see in Iceland.
Thank you again. We will see each other soon, I believe.

Had an amazing tour with Andres! He was incredibly informative and worked extremely hard to ensure we saw the best possible northern lights! He supported in the surprise proposal to my girlfriend under the northern lights, and he was on hand to take photos of the moment for us. A dream come true for us both. Thank you Andres! You were fantastic, hopefully when we return we will go on another tour with you. Thank you!

Alex. I am very grateful to be with you on the proposal under the northern lights. The list of those engaged in that way is already long. For all of them including you, I wish very much joy in life, many children, happiness and harmony for many decades.

We were so lucky to meet snd have Andres take us to see Northern lights for the first time in our lives . He is funny, knowledgeable, kind and ensured we stopped at the best places. Even though the probability was low he persevered and worked hard And we saw northern lights ! And a bonus shooting star! Thank you Andres, we highly recommend him !

I haven´t that often before seen customers waiting and enjoy on that way, that much as you have. It really was your night however light itself wasn´t the best one in season. I appreciate very much the way you wrote a review. On all tours, not only this one, northern lights, I simply am who I am, without pretending to be else, best, or worst. This is the way the customer gets the maximum out of travel in Iceland.
I really hope we will see each other again since you aren´t that far away from Iceland.

Really friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend. We had to look for a while as nature does not always comply with our wishes but Anders kept the show on the road.

Bathrooms and personal needs are priority on tours. Not only northern lights on all tours. We are very much aware of it so we are finding places open at night time and travellers can. But exactly that kind of tour is always in remote places since we are avoiding crowds, buses, and others, just to enjoy alone. Somehow we always find out best for all.

He has a DSLR. On our tour he accomodated 5 people

It is a 4x4 small SUV. 4 guests maximum. Andres will keep you on site so long as the lights are visible, he will take photos of you and your group with the lights behind you and send them to you via email. If he feels as though clouds are moving in, or there is too much light pollution, or the site becomes crowded he will move you elsewhere to get a better view.
