Mika was an excellent guide who provided a wonderful culinary experience. She was very accommodating to our needs and very informative about her home city of Kyoto. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves experiencing new foods and is interested in Japanese history.

Went for the Nishiki food market tour with Mika san. Started off at Daimaru Kyoto, and the basement food hall itself was a revelation! Packed with great Japanese food. Then we headed to the Nishiki market and Mika San pointed out lots of different things to us. It was quite informative and engaging tour. The food we ate was delicious, some local delicacies too, that I had not had in Tokyo.
Had a great time at the tour. Mika San was warm and friendly and spoke good English. Recommended for anyone who wants to explore the local food scene!

My family and I had a wonderful tour with Akiko through the Nishiki Market and Gion. Akiko was a wealth of knowledge. She taught us about new foods and taught us many things unique to Japanese culture. The food tour was a perfect length. We stopped at so many wonderful stalls in the Nishiki Market. Akiko handled purchasing the foods for us, and then explained what each item was. She even ensured that those with restrictions could still enjoy something at each stall. After the food tour, we walked to Gion, where Akiko explained the history of Geisha's in Kyoto. The experience was all very enlightening and we are still talking about it, today!

We had a really great day with our tour guide Akiko in Kyoto. While visiting several beautiful monuments and sights we learned so much about Japan's culture in general. After a 2,5h walk we went to the food market in Kyoto and Akiko let us try several typical japanese snacks and meals, which was a very funny experience. Summed up, it was a very special and beautiful day filled with visits of touristic places as well as getting to know Japan's culture with looots of fun.

We lucked out and were the only couple on the tour with Naomi! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We were happy with all of the variety of food we were able to try, and the small pieces of local/cultural trivia we learned on the way.

We had Kaori lead us on a food tour of Nishiki Market and the gion area. She was a wonderful tour guide that quickly gauged our interests and levels of food comfort (we like to eat) and made on the fly changes. Kaori was very patient as we deviated from her initial tour as we improved with all the wonderful food options. Having done an okay tour in Tokyo Kaori was a blessing to have as a guide. Highly recommend her.

Excellent tour. We had a lovely guide who was very charming. It was just my husband and I on the tour with our guid. We found that international tourists are less common right now, post pandemic. We loved this food tour as it is a perfect way to understand more about the culture and we tried many interesting items. There was a lot of food so go hungry! Overall this was an excellent tour.

Yasuna was an excellent tour guide in Kyoto. We got to try unique foods, and she provided lots of interesting information. We enjoyed the tour.

We had already done the Cultural Walking Tour (also very recommended) and because this tour was so much fun and interesting we decided to join the food tour also (because it was the second tour we also got 10% discount). We weren't let down, it was a great experience and we learned so much about the Japanese cuisine and tried a lot of new things. Walking through Zion with Michi was so much fun, she was very flexible and pointed us things that we were never to find ourselves. We were very lucky to have some extra time in Kyoto and to join this food tour. It was truly great and I can really recommend this tour!!

Hi, we would like to book this tour for tomorrow, Sunday Oct 6. The booking ideas possible on this platform. But we double checked the time table and it say a Sunday and Wednesday is off. Please advise.

Is this tour suitable for a vegetarian? Even if I won't be able to eat everything, will there be some vegetarian foods to try?

Obviously options will be limited as a vegetarian, but there's tofu, sweet potato etc. often available.
Vegans, gluten-free, or those with allergies would have issues, as the tour tries foods from many different stall holders, and their awareness of these issues would vary.
