It was the best way to get started on our visit to Kyoto. All the arrangements through TripAdvisor went smoothly with steady updates. Sachi our guide was on time and was very gracious clear and supportive. We visited 3 iconic sights and she was very knowledgeable. She was great at explaining Japanese culture and protocols also she gave us the confidence to access public transport for our remaining trip. Definitely do this!!

It was very good to see the three places we went to, Fushmi Imari Shrine,the Golden Pavillion and the Bamboo forest. However we felt rushed by our guide to meet his timetable, at one stage running for a train. Our guide Tohro was informative, and very organised.

Breath taking scenic views

The early bird Kyoto tour was so fun and an incredible experience. Meg, our tour guide, was so informative and kind, and really let us take our time and enjoy the sights. Seeing all the shrines and temples and the bamboo forest was a once in a lifetime experience that my husband and I will forever cherish.

You won't regret it !!
Our tour guide Fuji was wonderful and truly made it a great experience. Taught us so much and would tell us where good photo opportunities were. Cannot thank him enough for his time and knowledge.

Above and beyond for the WIN!
Naoko is a great guide. She is very knowledgeable, accommodating, and a wonderful human. Naoko went above and beyond to make our day special and even assisted my now fiancé in surprising me with a proposal in the Fushimi Inari Shrine. We ended the day feeling like Naoko is family. ❤️❤️❤️ We highly recommend booking with her.

Our guide, Tomako, was exceptional

This tour took us by bus and train to 3 of Kyoto's iconic places.

Tomako was very knowledgeable, friendly, experienced and considerate, finding for us the best vantage points and taking us aside to appreciate the deeper cultural aspects of Japan.

It would best suit people who are active and fairly fit, but the physical effort was appreciated by us.

Unfortunately our visit coincided with Golden Week, so the crowds on public transport and at the locations was a slight setback.

It is true that during Golden Week the crowds are even worse in Kyoto. It was unlucky that your visit fell exactly on that period. But we hope very much that you were still able to enjoy the city, its culture and history. Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review!

An experience well worth booking

Haru (tour guide) was one of the loveliest people we have ever met. He was extremely knowledgeable, having answers to all of our questions. Everything ran very smoothly and we genuinely had so much fun with our guide. We would highly recommend booking this tour. At first we booked it because we thought it would be interesting, it turned out to be one of our favourite days! (All thanks to Haru)

Lovely tour!
Originally we were scheduled with a different tour operator, but something came up and the company was very prompt in letting us know of the change. It’s nice that the company communicated this. Anyways, we booked the 8am tour and had Saori as our tour guide. The meeting location was pretty easy to find and we were able to start right on time. We had such a great time. Saori was warm and welcoming from the start and gave us a lot of interesting information about each location. She got us to each location at a reasonable time. I say this because we literally had to head back to Tokyo after the tour and we were able to make our train reservation on time. We inadvertently booked the tour during one of Japan’s busiest holidays-Golden Week and so we had to deal big crowds and had to squish ourselves into the bus, but it’s all apart of the experience! Overall, my husband and I enjoyed ourselves and I’m so glad we were able to squeeze in this tour with our schedule. Definitely have to see Kyoto for a longer length of time next time!

Also, wear some comfortable walking shoes! You will be walking a lot!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a long review!! It’s good to know that you enjoyed your time with Saori and that you were in time for your train back to Tokyo. You definitely visited during one of the busiest times in Japan with crowds everywhere. And yes, the tour requires quite a bit of walking…. We wish you all the best and hope that you can visit Kyoto again for a bit longer next time.
