- 温泉に浸かるニホンザルの姿は3月ごろまで見られる。 天候や時間等によっても見られない場合がありますが、この理由による払い戻しはいたしません。

It was AMAZING!
You can understand how Miso paste is made, try it and buy from a local traditional store. Also the trip is guided by a Japanese so you can ask anything that she will try to explain it clearly in English!
After some free time in Obuse City, you go to the Jigokudani Monkey Park and can challenge yourself by a roughtlhy 40 min walk through the woods until you get to the Monkey Park. It is an good experience to connect to the nature and be surrounded by the lovely monkeys! I really recommend the trip and you can go by yourself and meet a lot of people too!
Also, it is very convenient because you start and finish the whole trip at the Nagano Station and enjoy this day trip with lots of joy!

An interesting experience to learn a little more about the artisanal production of miso. Honestly, I had no idea about the production process. On the other hand, visiting the Jigokudani Yaen-koen in the Joshinetsu-Kogen National Park was a beautiful experience. The snow monkeys kindly allowed us into their space and habitat, giving us the opportunity to observe their interaction with nature and the local hot springs. A trip I highly recommend to those who treat nature and its inhabitants with kindness and respect.

Convenient bus trip from Nagano Station to Suzaka, where we learnt about miso production and tried fresh amazake and miso soup (both delicious!). Free time in Obuse, during which we could chose our own lunch and do some quick shopping. To top it off, we had a very relaxing afternoon at the Snow Monkey Park, with a beautiful view from the snowy mountains. Definitely recommend!

A perfect blend of culinary delights and natural beauty! This tour was exceptional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, answering every question with detail, and the seamless transportation took the stress out of navigating between locations. The Snow Monkey Park was the absolute highlight an easy trail leading to a tranquil sanctuary where we could observe the macaques up close in their natural habitat. An unforgettable experience!

Our journey began with a fascinating visit to a miso production brewery. It was a great opportunity to see the intricate process of making miso, an essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine. The rich aroma of fermenting soybeans filled the air as we toured the facility. We also take a view at those giant barrels to create miso. After the tour, we tasted freshly made hot miso soup and warm amazake, a traditional sweet rice drink. The flavors were rich and comforting, a perfect start to the day.
Next, we headed to the charming town of Obuse, known for its connection to the famous ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai and its delicious chestnuts. We had over an hour of free time to explore, strolling through the picturesque streets lined with traditional buildings. The town’s peaceful atmosphere and historical charm made it a delightful stop. I also enjoyed a delicious local meal, featuring seasonal ingredients and, of course, chestnuts.
The highlight of the trip was our visit to Jigokudani Monkey Park. I love the nature and fresh air here so much! After a scenic walk through a forest of towering cedar trees, we arrived at the hot springs where wild Japanese macaques were soaking in the warm water. The sight of adorable monkeys relaxing in the steamy springs, surrounded by snow-covered mountains, was truly mesmerizing. The natural beauty of the area, combined with the playful antics of the monkeys, made for an unforgettable experience. Throughout the tour, our guide, a Japanese woman, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, providing insightful commentary that helped us better appreciate both Japanese culture and Nagano’s local traditions. It was a day full of discovery, delicious flavors, and breathtaking scenery.

A long-held dream has finally come true – seeing these amazing creatures in their natural habitat! The hike up the mountain was surprisingly comfortable, and our guide was excellent and full of positive energy. The atmosphere in the park was amazing: the monkeys roamed freely, bathed in the hot springs, and were completely unfazed by visitors. The only thing I wished for was a bit more time. Due to the large number of tourists, I had to wait in line to get close to the main onsen, where one majestic monkey was sitting. By the time everyone had their turn to take photos, 15-20 minutes had already passed, and the 50-minute visit felt too short. But the experience was truly unforgettable!

This was a very adventurous tour.
The Miso factory was from another age and felt very well preserved. The staff was kind and explained all about the traditional miso production.
The monkey park is perfect for nature lovers. After a short hike we could watch monkeys living out their liv s in the midst of the mountanous forests.
Great tour for people who like nature and hiking.

The miso production tour was not exactly as expected. The production site is smaller than what a tourist might imagine based on the provided information. It should be more clearly stated that it is a small local business.
The miso itself was delicious, and learning about the production process was truly interesting.
Obuse is a charming little town, but we didn’t have much time to explore beyond visiting a traditional Japanese sake shop before heading to a restaurant for lunch. I was particularly interested in the Hokusai Museum, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to visit it.
On the other hand, the Jigokudani Monkey Park was absolutely stunning. I really enjoyed the experience, and there was plenty of time for both sightseeing and taking photos. However, since the tour ended an hour earlier than scheduled, we could have spent more time in Obuse.
Overall, I really enjoyed this experience. Our guide was very helpful and kind, which is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted.
