A fantastic, locally-owned beach property. The owner and her staff were amazing and fun. The beach was extremely clean and maintained well, while keeping the natural ecosystem safe. A quiet, relaxing day. We met some fun and talented souvenir vendors, heard some great music. The locals are friendly and genuine. The drinks kept coming and the lunch was simple, but authentic and delicious. It’s rustic, but that’s what makes it a real experience. If you’re looking for a pristine, luxury experience choose something else. If you want an amazing, real, and relaxing experience, you will love La Chilagonese!

The beach is ok, clean and nice for kids. The seating area is crowded.
The drink and food are ok. Wouldn’t recommend to book, you can just call a taxi and go there, buy couple drinks or food to enjoy the beach

Ivan was our host and he was wonderful. He took great care of us while we visited. If you get him you are very fortunate.
The resort itself was good but the sea weed was really bad. They were trying to get rid of it and it may have just been the time of year or day.

Such a disappointment! The walk from the ship to the cantina for the included cab was nearly a mile. Then as a party of 6, they wanted to put us all into 1 cab, a 4 door Honda Civic sized car, nope! They were mad that we forced them to use 2 cabs. Once arrived, we were shown to a very packed space, they cram 45 people into a small area. Our chairs gave us no view of the water or sand, so we couldn't see our kids. We were allowed to move closer to the beach as the the area emptied out shortly after arrival. We placed our drink order upon arrival, but it took an hour and multiple inquires to receive those drinks. In fact, the first 2 rounds of drinks were all virgin instead of virgin just for the kids. Then they didn't want to provide the snacks that our voucher included. Food took another hour after ordering. Each time we needed something, we had to hunt down the staff, no one checked on us at all. No offer of the snorkel gear that was included. The "beach and ocean" were a sectioned off lagoon, with a fence blocking the real ocean. This made the water stale and kinda murky. Vendors did approach us but easily accepted a no thank you and didn't pester. The food was good, as was the massage after I had to insist on the $20 for 1 hour price instead of the $60 for an hour that they asked for because they were "certified" therapists. Overall, we won't be back to this "beach club" and may not even venture off the ship.

This place was great. I booked the VIP package with a massage included. To start off, the walk to the restaurant for pick up might be a little long for someone with mobility issues but it was a solid surface and easy to navigate. The wait for a taxi was short and the ride to the beach didn’t take more than 10 minutes. Once you get there you’re taken down a small path to a busy street full of vendors and to the actual spot you’ll enjoy your day. As part of my package I had a covered cabana to myself, complete with a beach towel and two small pillows. They offer loungers for in water use which feel wonderful. They come around every so often to check if you need food or a drink. I found the drinks to be lacking but the food was amazing. My massage was great and very inexpensive if you want to extend it beyond the included 30 minutes. Leaving was just as simple, let them know you want to go and they grab you a taxi and off you go. The only downside is yes there are a lot of vendors who will approach you but I didn’t have a single issue with them beyond saying no thank you.

Not a bad walk to get to the restaurant for them to call the complimentary taxi. You can always choose to grab a taxi yourself at the port and save time. I think it was like $4 per person for the ride if you choose to do that. The servers were sweet and very attentive. The beach is beautiful and they have plenty of chairs in and out of the water to relax in. We found the appetizer and one food item to be plenty for us- we went with the reviews and got the fish tacos- wonderful! Only downside is all of the vendors walking through trying to sell you things. I wish we would've written down each time they stopped to sell us stuff...it was probably 20-30 times. It is all the same stuff and gets overwhelming after awhile if you're trying to relax! We found that if we stayed in the water, they left us alone lol

This place was an excellent find. We were an hour late due to the ship docking but this seems pretty flexible because when getting to the pickup point they are calling you a cab(although I’m sure they would like a heads up on their Whatsapp number). The only critique I can possible think of would be the initial directions out of the port and where to go when stepping out of the cab on the other end. However, when we finally figured out how to get out of the port there was someone just outside the gates who I think was looking specifically for us(?) Love this place and we will def be booking it if we go again! Like everyone else has commented, the food is superb and the service is amazing, the most attentive it could possible be and if you look their direction they will be checking if there is anything they can get you. What to expect…. It is a restaurant on a busy waterfront walkway (EXCELLENT food, get the ceviche if you like that sort of thing) with cabana/padded beach chairs which appear to be specifically for those who reserve thru something like this booking. Even with 3 ships at port it wasn’t crowded in the least and they have a limit on the number of reservation anyways. They have 50’ or so of sandy beech front with calm water for swimming due to a reef farther out and shade or no-shade areas to sit. There are def people walking by trying to sell items but they were all extremely respectful and not pushy like I have experienced elsewhere. When pulling into port, this spot will be the beach area you see half mile or so left of the port dock, and it was fun to see the “city” on the cab ride to and from. Highly recommended!

The servers and food was delicious and beautifully arranged. We found the Catina from the port exit with ease and were served complimentary drinks and taxi on a short drive to location. The beach furniture was worn but we liked the authentic surroundings with hair braiding and massages taken advantage of by our family. Our ship was within view

Going on a cruise which arrives in Costa Maya at 11am. Booking through the cruise line I have to be 21 to consume alcoholic drinks. Is this the same booking through here? Or does this excursion follow Mexico's drinking age?

There was a pool but the ocean was cleaner. Lots of sunscreen in pool and warm. There is a great area for small kid-up in the ocean- its inside reefed in area and shallow, with sand to play in. A deeper area out in the open for older people. Food, drinks and service are excellent.

No you have to take your own taxi this is very run down area I don’t think it’s good for small children pictures a little deceiving
Hi we are traveling with a handicap person who cannot walk and has a scooter. Is there cement on the property that he can maneuver? Also we would need a taxi with lift. Could that be arranged?

There is a paved path to the Ibiza Sunset Club. Once you arrive everything towards the water is beach sand, nothing paved. On another excursion I did see a beach going electric wheelchair. I do not know the availability in Costa Maya.

A mask with snorkel is included, snorkeling takes place right in front of you in the water.
Transportation is $4.00 per person each way.
The cabs are outside of the parking lot area, past the guard shack, turn left once outside the gate.
