Very informative, even for lifelong Roanokers, but don't show up hungry.
Our tour guide, Ned, was excellent. He provided just the right amount of commentary on history, fun facts, and local lore, without overselling and boring our group. Food selections were tasty and diverse. However, portions were quite small for average hearty eaters.

This was a great way to see downtown Roanoke, learn some local history and get some great food. Our guide was great and really took time to talk about the history of the area. Whereas some food and history tours make the history part feel like something to kill time between restaurants, she really took time to delve in the history in general and also linking it back to the places we were eating. We have been on many foot tours and this was one of the best.

Terrie was amazing. She knew oodles about Roanoke's history and was friendly and energetic throughout. She was sensitive to our needs (for vegetarian food and for need to stop and rest). Food was delicious. Places were interesting. There were 8 other people on our tour and it was delightful to learn about Roanoke and meet our fellow travelers.

All of us had a great time on this food n culture tour even though it started to rain halfway thru. It was a nice variety of resturants and foods to taste including seafood bisque, Lebanese, shrimp n grits, beer, cheese burger, smoothie, chocolates. The history of the Roanoke, its buildings, the people and development were enlightening. The view from the art museum and Center in the Square were an added bonus. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon.👍

We've done food tours in many cities, this may have been the best one yet. Ned is so passionate and knowledgeable about his city, and he makes it fun to learn so much about both the food scene and the history of this town. So glad we started our visit with this excellent tour - and the food was great!

We are so glad we took this tour! Our guide, Lynne, did an excellent job; she was careful to include everyone, set the right pace, and was a nonstop source of information that gave us a new vision of Roanoke. The restaurant selections were well done, varied, and delicious! We would not hesitate to take another tour with this company. We heartily encourage anyone. Interested at all in Roanoke to take this fun, tasty, and informative tour!

Booked this tour for a girls weekend. Thought it would be a fun activity since none of us had been to Roanoke. This tour exceeded our expectations! The food was good, and our tour guide Ned’s love of history was outstanding. We enjoyed it and went to some of the restaurants that we visited later for dinner and dessert. Ned also helped on information regarding a hiking trail that we wanted to take. The trail was great and viewed were beautiful. Thank you Ned from the southeastern Ohio girls (old women)!

Very nice tour of the downtown area with six food tastings, a stop at the Taubman museum and the history of Roanoke. Our tour guide Lynne was very knowledgeable of the history of Roanoke from its original heyday with the railroads, it’s down turn in the 50’s to 80’s and it revitalization. Tasting ranged from bisque in Hotel Roanoke Regency Room to a Cheesey at the Texas Tavern. We liked one of the stops (Billy’s) so much they we immediately made dinner reservations for that night.

We had a fantastic tour with Lynne, who was a wealth of information about the city, the architecture, the area, and the food. She had a terrific way of blending the historical aspects of Roanoke with the cultural influences which always came around to the food. And the food was amazing! We sampled delicious small portions of a signature item at each of the places we went. Lynne's voice was easy to hear and pleasant to listen to. She seemed to enjoy her job and her enthusiasm was apparent throughout the tour. We had a schedule to keep but we never felt rushed. We have been on many walking tours of various cities all over the world and this was one of the best. We highly recommend this tour!!

It was a girls weekend and I booked this for the three of us. Lynne was our guide and she was INCREDIBLE. She loves her job and it shows. She is way above the average tour guide. Her knowledge and history of Roanoke is amazing. The walking food tour was wonderful with a nice blend of different foods to try,. Each place we visited we would return for a meal later. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Roanoke, or even someone who lives there and wants to indulge in great facts and food for an afternoon.
