秋の紅葉の時期にフェアバンクスからアンカレッジ行きに乗車しました。確かタナナ川という名前だったと思うのですが、川沿いを走る風景、車窓からのデナリ山が綺麗に撮れて、良い電車の旅でした。

移動手段としては高いですが、景色を楽しむことが出来、鉄道旅行の醍醐味を味わうことが出来ます。車窓は後半はやや平凡になるので、時間がなければデナリ国立公園まででも良いかもしれません。複数人数だったらホテルとのパッケージが割安です。

had goldstar service for anchorage to Denali roundtrip. The train was awesome as it allowed everyone to take in the view and not have to focus on driving. The goldstar trains have a viewing area in the rear each train car that really allows you to take in all the sights. On the way to Denali, a high school kid narrated the tour and was articulate and knowledgable. On the way back from Denali to anchorage, we got to experience Joy, an employee of the Alaska Railroad. Joy should the face all marketing for the Alaska Railroad. She made great drinks and was amiable. She interacted with every passenger on board and truly made each one feel special, even if they were only getting a soda. She truly cared and made the trip even more memorable as she provided information on all things Alaska.

The trains are run efficiently but could be improved with some modernization of their operations. Boarding passes should be available electronically to reduce time spent waiting in line for a piece of paper. Baggage claim needs to be organized so passengers don't have to sift through everyone's luggage trying to find their own.

Excellent school kids provide narrative as you go along the track. It's a fun experience and well worth doing. The only drawback is the way the eating schedule works, but that is minor. This is fun

Wow, what a great way to arrive in Denali! Beautiful trip up from Anchorage with great food, drinks and service. This was well worth the splurge to get to Denali National Park! Highly recommended! The Denali scramble and a Bloody Mary teas a great way to start the day.

Great Experience. The Gold Star upgrade made it "special" so it was a very pleasant trip. The guides could use more practice but hopefully they will get caught up. Meal setting were with table cloths, cloth napkins, silverware, and china. Food was good. Nice experience.

While expensive, the Gold Star service is worth it. Gloss domed cars, reserved seats and meals served in the restaurant below. Really high class and quality. The car also has an open air area that you can stand outside and watch the beautiful scenery go by.
The baggage handling is excellent. You check your bag, they ask what hotel you are staying and tag it accordingly. Well done and stress less.
Super friendly people on board to help. Worth it. If you are going one way only would recommend sitting on the left side. Both sides are good, but I think the left side is better for some of the views.

We loved the set up of the train, the views are spectacular and this is a great way to experience Alaska. For this, 4 stars. Minor dings - 45 minutes late in leaving, food is uninspiring and the bathrooms were not properly stocked. In addition, the tour guides were hard to hear and did not really add value.

Did the deluxe dome to Denali as part of a Gate1travel tour. Great experiences and comfortable seats. Bonus was you could go outside to see out the back of the train in the fresh air. Breakfast food was delicious and you can even try the reindeer sausage. Only bummer was the WiFi password wasn’t provided to the guests so if you were expecting to be able to use WiFi while on the almost eight hour ride this again. Cell coverage is spotty at best in most areas along the route.

The train was clean and the bartender friendly. The food in the dining car was good, as well. The trip was about two hours too long, as the train goes slow. We upgraded to the dome car and it really was not worth it because we didn't see anything but the trees and often the tracks ran along the highway. The train car was only about 1/3 full, but they had everyone crammed in the front of the car. Eventually, my husband and I moved back and were able to feel less crowded. Also - in the dining car there were many tables available, but they made us sit club cab style across from strangers. I was very excited about this leg of our trip, but was disappointed.

I would ware something to keep you warm the trains have no heat the inside of the car never got above 60 degrees center seats have a daft blowing on you at all times from the top down. But views were great.

I would not take the train! the train had no heating we froze. the window seat was not to bad but the center seat had a cold air draft blowing on me all the time. We asked every person who worked on the train to get some heat and we were told it was not posable. the passengers took turns going outside in the snow too warm up.
the train ride took 13 hours with just a chance to purchase lunch.

Would like to take one of the trains from Anchorage to Denali in June. There will be five of us flying into Anchorage from VA & PA. However, once we arrive in Denali I feel a rental car may be a better option in order to sight-see other places outside the park. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also are car rentals available in Denali?

I would not take the train. our train rid was supposed to take 5 hours it took 13 . they allowed for a lunch to be purchased but at dinner time we were told the kitchen is closed. the train car we were in never got above 60 degrees we froze all the way. our guide read his script most of the way we got tired of him.
