We had a fantastic time visiting the island with the kids! The trip out on the lake was comfortable and our skipper/guide was very knowledgeable and fun 😊 everyone loved the Weka! We highly recommend this tour

This was an enjoyable experience. Crystal was helpful and provided information about what we were seeing and where we were going. At Mou Waho Island, we were able to go for a walk to a beautiful small lake (walking pole thoughtfully provided by Wanaka Water Taxis). After enjoying the views there, I walked up to the next stage where we looked down over the small lake, and over to Lake Wanaka. A truly wonderful way to spend a few hours.

A fun trip two thirds of the way up the 47 Km long lake. Informative commentary on the lake's glacial history and the geography and geology of the area. The walk to the top of the island was through a varied example of local flora. The bird songs were delightful, as was the view from the top. Well worth the cost.

It was an experience worth its price. We bought our tickets from the information office and took the 10 am boat with Crystal at the steering wheel. She first explained the safety features of the boat. There were brief stoppages at four islands with a description of the topography, flora and fauna of each one and their differences. At Mou Waho the boat docked for the trek up to the summit to get a panoramic view if the lake and a hidden lake as well. Hiking poles are provided for anybody who needs one. It's a tough climb for seniors but there is always someone to lend a helping hand. Crystal is exceedingly knowledgeable and caring and helped my husband on the downhill climb. We just lived her service and would highly recommend making this trip through her.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! What a lovely bunch we had on board didn't we? And such a beautiful day. It was no problem at all to give your husband a hand when he was wasn't feeling well, just make sure you keep him hydrated and loaded up with snacks from now on. I am happy he recovered after that. But myself and the other guests are always happy to help!

Wanakawatertaxi naar Mou waho island heeft ons doen verrassen! Zeer leuke, informatieve tocht over water zowel de (culturele) geschiedenis als wat geologische informatie. Extra bonus was dat onze schipper Nederlandse afkomst had en onze kinders dat extra interessant vonden. Verder ook aantrekkelijk gemaakt met plaatjes en namen voor de kinderen met dieren die op het eiland bevonden.
Voor kleine kids stevige wandeling naar boven (die van ons 3 en 5) maar met zelf gekozen wandelstokken en spel van expeditie leider zijn wisten ze het naar het meer te redden). Prachtige omgeving en mooie Vogelzang en vogel vondsten. Zou het andere zeker aanraden!
Het enthousiasme van de Wanaka watertaxi heeft hier zeker aan bijgedragen. Dank je wel voor leuke dag!

Dank jullie wel!! Wat een mooie review. Ik vond het erg gezellig met jullie aan boord. En ik vond het helemaal geweldig dat de jongens zo geïnteresseerd waren in alle informatie! Hoe leuk is dat.
En ja op het einde stenen en takken in het water gooien is altijd leuk toch!

Inoubliable !!! Un super accueil, une super balade en bateau autour du lac avec des anecdotes et toutes les réponses à nos questions. La randonnée sur l’île était magique, comme un petit paradis.

Bret takes you out to the island - tells you all about it on the way - leaves you on the island to explore for 2 hours - we climbed to the top - 35 mins - you need good pair of trainers and your water bottle - moderate to reasonable fitness - go at your own pace - views stunning from the top - it’s beautiful - I swam in the little lake on the way up - unique experience if you are a regular open water swimmer - so take your kit - because you will be sad if you don’t - water temp same as lake - Bret will confirm what that is on day - you need to know the little lake shelves away deeply more or less as soon as you are in - no nasty surprises current wise on the day I swam - getting in slightly tricky with dignity - best walk along a bit to rocky emplacement and get in there from some roughly cut steps - I was pleased of my neoprene socks for comfort underfoot getting in and out because of some uneven pebbles and potentially sharp edges of steps to put me off balance - this point is relative to me being a clumsy OAP 😉

And yes, as am open water swimmer myself I totally agree that you will regret it if you don't go swimming! Although, if you forget your kit, just go in your undies! It's worth it!

Since we were both lucky enough to have you on the boat, we have to say thank you, that was so much fun! We loved all the banter and bombs off the roof of the boat. And as for the noody jump, that's all good since you had a private charter :-)
