If you go to Acitrezza to walk along the seafront, you can not go to the house described admirably by Giovanni Verga, the home of the medlar, where the Malavoglia lived. Obviously being a story there is nothing true and the house itself is a house that represents it. The building is very spartan, consists of a small entrance courtyard where there are 2 rooms. In one everything that was used daily, the table where to eat (before men ate, after women with children), a bed, the basin, the maidda (where bread was kneaded). etc. In the other instead the necessary for fishing and many photos of the film the earth trembles Visconti hanging on the wall. It's a leap into a past that no longer exists, where life was harder, but simpler and more essential, where everything was reused and nothing was thrown away, unlike today.
The visit lasts half an hour, if you want to see for yourself the cost is 2€ per person, with the guide 3€, while with 4.50€ you are entitled to visit the nearby castle of Acicastello. Why go there? To be able to see with our eyes what we have imagined with our hearts with the words of Verga. Recommended.

For Verga fans it is a must-see. Small museum with two rooms. Recommended the guided tour, without me it is wasted

As a fan of Verga and literature I did not want to miss this small museum. The staff is punctual and kind, the guy who accompanied us prepared. It was a very interesting and also exciting visit. We talk about cinema, interesting local traditions, the life of the families of fishermen of the past, and also Verga certo...

You will find yourself at the Malavoglia house.
Outside two medlars, inside two rooms: one containing a collection of photographs of Luchino Visconti's cinematographic masterpiece "La terra trema" shot in Acitrezza in 1947, the other houses ancient objects from the world of fishermen, work tools and furnishings of daily life. The guys who will guide you on this tour are very prepared.

Thanks to the excellent and very kind Damiano we discovered anecdotes and curiosities of this small but interesting museum, which contains vestiges of the life of fishermen described in Malavoglia and prospects for the production of the film La terra trema by Luchino Visconti shot nearby.

Seen only from the outside, this is the house of Giovanni Verga's Malavoglia family located in the heart of Aci Trezza, a hamlet of Aci Castello. Verga set his novel in this seaside village, talking about a house in the medlar tree where the family lives protagonist of the story, a house that may have been inspired by the one that now houses the museum.

A very pleasant visit thanks to Martina, kind and knowledgeable, who guided us into the past of Aci Trezza, making us hear the song of the sea through the shell, revealing the secrets of the strong and ingenious fishermen. An unmissable stop that was worth the long journey that began in Val Camonica!!!

A wonderful journey into the past.
It is always very exciting to enter the Casa del Nespolo thinking of Giovanni Verga's novel "I Malavoglia".
The guide is a very knowledgeable girl.
He spoke with such engaging passion and such fluency of language that he left all of us attentively listening.
