What a lovely surprise to walk through this stunning orchard of cherry blossoms. Despite it being during covid, there were literally hundreds of folk picnicking under the cherry blossoms.

It happens year in year out every spring from march to mid may, deppends on the wind. This cherry trees was a gift from the Japan Women’s Club to Amstelveen city and it's totally 400 trees. Every tree has a woman's name, 200 trees have Japanese women name and 200 trees with Dutch women name. The cherry (sakura) blossom festival in Japan is a big happening and it symbolize a new begin. Even when the trees are not in blossom, it's a nice place to take a walk. We were there when the pandemic started so there were some staff from the security to make sure that the 1,5m distance should be kept. It's better to visit this place early in the morning as it's very crowded. There is also a Tsunami monument in the park but we didn't go further to find it.

You have to visit this park in Spring to see the place in full magic. The park is at the northern end of De Poel. The park is accessible through a bridge over the pool.
The Sakura (Cherry Blossom) trees have been planted in a circle pattern. A good place to stroll and relax.
