Yoko was a wonderful guide. Knowledgeable and personable. We saw many highlights of Tokyo and she made sure to point out things we would not have been aware of. Highly recommend this company and this guide. The company was wonderful at communicating with us from our first inquiry to the actual tour. Very professional.

We had a free day in Tokyo and decided to try a private guide to take us to places we wanted to see without the hassle of trying to catch trains and worry about the language barrier. It was the best decision to go with Back Street Guides. Hiro listened to our wish list and organised a fantastic tour for us. We were lucky to have Yoko as our guide for the day. She was brilliant. She went above and beyond expectations. We went to the Sensoji Temple, the samurai museum, Kappabashi Street, Shibuyu crossing, Takeshita Street and more. True value for money. Thank you Yoko and Hiro.

We had a customized day tour of Tokyo with our tour guide Yoko. She was engaging, so knowledgeable, and kind. We were a group of 5 including two adults, two teens, and one tween. All ages enjoyed the tour. We had some "don't want to miss" spots and were looking for recommendations on how to best structure our day. We communicated before the tour with Hiro, who was very helpful in making the most of our day and suggesting spots we would not have thought of on our own. We plan on returning next summer with other family and will be reaching out again for another tour.

Very good and thorough tour of the Tsukiji fish market and some nearby sites. Our guide Rie did a good job adjusting to feedback from us (esp our kids) and for the weather. Would recommend her to others.

Our group of 6 had a fantastic night with Rei! We went to places we would never have thought of - or be able to find ! Rei was friendly and knowledgeable- the tour far exceeded our expectations!

We had Rie as a tour guide. She was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Hiro was also very responsive when organizing the tour. We really appreciated the flexibility the backstreet guides had when organizing our tour. We would recommend Rie to anybody! What an amazing way to start our trip!!!

We did a full day Tokyo van tour and a walking/subway tour with Backstreet Guides. (They were recommended to us by friends in England who used and loved them in Kyoto.)
I worked with Hiro at Backstreet Guides in planning the tour. He was wonderful, making suggestions and helping us customize the day. Backstreet was the only company that provided both a tour guide and a driver. We would never have been able to experience all that we did in a city as busy as Tokyo if we had to rely on one driver/guide to find parking everywhere we went. Don't let any company tell you otherwise. The van was clean and very comfortable for the six of us.
Rie was our fabulous guide for both tours, very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and easy to understand. We scheduled our walking tour for 3 to 9 pm because we wanted to experience Tokyo at night. I don't know how Rie managed to keep track of 6 senior women as we navigated the subway system and the streets, but she did.
We wanted to experience meals at restaurants that were not "touristy". The restaurants she selected were those that she and her friends and family patronize. They were all wonderful and gave us an opportunity to try a variety of foods. In almost all cases we were the only non-Asians there.

Our tour of Kyoto was FANTASTIC! Junko created the perfect itinerary for us and everything worked out perfectly. We saw so much during our 8 hour tour (with driver) including a very special lunch. Highest praise for Junko and team!!
