We came there for lunch (1-2 p.m.). The sun was shining, the clouds were under the feet :) So, try this part of the day, but anyway it's hard to guess the weather ir Madeira. You should be ready for anything
We are on a cruise stopping one day, would we have time to visit from the cruise ship

As indicated in other comments, if you just want to "visit" the Nuns' Valley, principally Eira to Serrado and the road between it and Funchal, then you can do this and other things in one day. However, if you also want to walk the Nuns' Path (5 kms, 500m vertical drop, great views), then allow 5-6 hours for the total excursion and plan the bus times. 81 bus to Eira do Serrado costs €3.35 and leaves Marina (other side of road from boats) just after 9, 10 and 11 on working days, 8.45, 10 and 11.30 on Saturdays and 6.40, 9.05 and 11.40 on Sundays and holidays. Return buses from Curral das Ferras are generally more frequent but Google "Funchal bus timetable 81" and "tjwalking-madeira" for times, maps and more information.
Hello! Do i understand it right - we can take the 81 bus to eire do serrado, and then we can walk down to the village? (how long the walk takes)? And is there a bus from the village (so we dont have to go back up). is it the same bus (nr81)?
