So there is a great stretch of beach in Negril, Jamaica known as Bloody Bay. There are several luxury hotels there. If you are looking for a great local guy to show you around, A1 is the man!! He can arrange any tour or excursion, arrange transportation for you and get you anything you may need during your stay. He took care of my family and I during our stay there last week.

My husband and I vacation in Jamaica often. In the past, we would stay in the middle of seven mile beach. This was our first time at Bloody Bay, and I honestly prefer it. It was a lot quieter and more relaxing. There is a set place on the beach for vendors, sort of like a market. Water was warm and clear. Just wonderful.

We went to Montego Bay at the Royal Decameton resort, we were lucky. When we arrived there was a warning of a tropical storm and we could get evacuated. The day after, it rained all day but that was it! After that we had sun every day, the temperature was 27-30 degrees! The food was great! It was our second time there and we intend to go back.

Just back from 2 amazing weeks stay at RUI Nergil bloody bay beach. Jamaica is a place very close to my heart being my parents brith place. I have been to Jamaica about 8 time and love it all the time. I 10 years got married in Jamaica had the most amazing wedding .We booked with the TUI rep on the 28th September a trip to Appleton rum factory , YS falls and the pelican bar. We we got to the pelican bar there was a photographer taking pictures. He approached me and my husband to take our picture I said no I did not want our phots taken. He said if we don’t like them we don’t need to buy them. After a while he came to show us the phots there were nice I asked him how much he said $20 I said $ 15 he said ok. He took our name and email address and said we would receive the pictures later that day. We are back home and never the photos. Tried to contact him from the details he gave us the email comes back unable to deliver. Reported this to TUI has they sold us the trip they are unable to help. If you are thinking of visiting the pelican bar be aware this is a scam.

A quieter beach than 7 mile beach, lovely walks along bay. There are some beach vendors (they don't pester) if you want any souvenirs. The ocean has an abundance of marine life if you enjoy snorkelling. We even got to see two sharks by Rui Negril Hotel. Wonderful vacation in beautiful surroundings.

About a mile (2 km) north of 7-mile Beach, Bloody Bay is a great protected area with a nice reef for snorkeling in the warmest waters I’ve ever experienced in the Caribbean. Although the area has a cavalcade of boats constantly motoring along the shoreline, it’s reasonably safe for snorkellers to explore the ends of the beach and near the mouth of the bay.
At the north end of Bloody Bay between Little Bay Country Club and the RIU Negril Resort we (ActiveCaribbeanTravel) snorkeled right off the beach. The sea is uncrowded and full of marine life including juvenile fish around the reef as well as starfish, sea cucumbers, stingrays and crabs along the sandy bottom.
At the south end of the bay along the peninsula where the Grand Lido Negril Hotel is, the cliffs and nearby reefs offer another relatively safe area to snorkel. Again, the area was uncrowded as we ventured out there via a glass-bottom boat and really enjoyed swimming and snorkeling through “Lover’s Cave” – a small cave system with a sandy ocean floor, low hanging cave ceilings, and schools of bright coloured juvenile fish darting around in the shallow water. A pretty cool experience for sure. Just a few feet/meters from the cliffs scattered reefs are home to a wide variety of corals, sea fans and plenty of colourful little fish. We also saw a lobster hiding under some rocks on the ocean floor!

Clear, clean water that is warm and calm enough to be inviting. A large expanse of white beach with gorgeous palm trees and ample shade. Sunsets like no other.

Great stretch of beach. The best area for water/sand is at Rui Palace Tropical Bay. Water is clear and calm, not rocky.

The resorts on Bloody Bay are relaxing, quiet and are within walking distance of various vendors on the beach with goods ranging from clothing to carvings. Excursions can be purchased through the resorts or from recommended locals. See Lester by the RIU gazebo, not only will you be saving yourself $$, but you will be supporting local also. Beautiful sunsets, gorgeous beach and a true Jamaican experience.

Je veux réserver maximum le 25 janvier pour un voyage en couple. Quel hôtel tranquille sur la plage de Bloody Bay me recommandez- vous ? Nous aimons nager dans la mer.

Cualquiera de los hoteles es tranquilo. El agua está más limpia en la zona opuesta del riu negril, ya que el agua en está zona está llena de algas y es como fango

We were guests at the Royalton and walked down the beach to the Sunset at the Palms to see it for ourselves. We were originally going to stay at the Sunset but weren’t sure what it would be like with the beach across the street. The resort is very unique, small and intimate. It is across the main road from the beach, so you do have to cross the street to get to the beach but there is a crossing guard who will assist you. The beach area is private for guests of Sunset at the Palms, has a beach bar, BBQ, plenty of loungers and umbrellas and a place to access water sport activities. There are many trees to offer shade also. The beach is gorgeous, and just down from a set of vendors who have souvenirs and things available. Other vendors walk up and down the beach and sell a variety of services, including excursions. They were polite and courteous if you bought from them or didn’t. There are security guards from the Sunset at the Palms posted on the beach to keep an eye on things (not that we at any time felt unsafe walking up and down the beach), and we watched some live entertainment also for the Sunset guests. It looked like the guests were having a great time. We would definitely consider staying there. It’s not a huge resort, more personalized and intimate.

Blood Bay is shaped like an n with the 2 legs claimed by resorts and the top being public but this is the narrowest part and is occupied full time by market stalls owned by local traders... no room to use. I did see locals on the beach but very few that weren't hassled a bit to move on by resort security.

We stayed at riu tropical bay. If you were up close to the pool area you could hear music but not on all day. Did see one or two people with their own music further down beach. And if all else fails,there is always the buskers lol

Blood Bay is shaped like an n with the 2 legs claimed by resorts and the top being public but this is the narrowest part and is occupied full time by market stalls owned by local traders...no Jamaican contact authorities

If planning a trip of say 30 persons Whats the cost per person locally?
Can you bring your own food? or you got to get it at the restaurant there?

Hi Rebecca from Algoma, Deette here from Sheboygan Wi. You said that you could see starfish sting rays etc. Did you see people snorkeling right from the beach? My husband and I will be at the Riu palace tropical in Bloody Bay. We love to snorkel and it would be great to know if it's worth taking our equipment. This vacation is going to be a mini retirement gift to both of us. Thanks if you have any input.

Snorkeling in general in Jamaica is not great. That being said, there are some people who snorkel from the beach in Bloody Bay. However, depending on where you have snorkeled before, I'd just go with lower expectations.
