Beautiful beach

Las Cuevas Beach gets its name from the caves along the cliffs at the edge of the beach. It is quieter than Maracas. I enjoyed swimming here.

Almost perfect beach

Beautiful almost perfect beach
Green lush surroundings, great waves, clean nice water
When we visited July 2022 there was both umbrellas and chairs for rent, a small shop with trini snacks, many delicious homemade, and a small fast food restaurant with bake n’ shark, shrimps etc and beer & soft drinks.
Beautiful sunset
Really a great vibe, not many people.
Only thing not making this a 5 star is the sandflies. But they are not bad. They just leave a small red mark. Use repellent every time you have been in the water and you’re fine.

Going Maracas? Definitely check out Las Cuevas!

Las Cuevas Beach is near Maracas beach (about a 10-15 mins drive with no traffic). The waves tend to be a little less rough compared to Maracas and this beach tends to have smaller crowds in comparison as it is a little less popular and no food huts on the beach (you may want to pick up Bake and Shark, etc. from Maracas on the way!)

Chairs and Umbrellas are available at this beach (~$100 TTD for 3 chairs and an umbrella - for however long you're there). Bathroom facilities and lifeguards are on-premises. Parking is also available and typically there is no parking fee, but due to limited spaces you either have to wait until one is available (it could be up to a 30-minute wait) or park alongside the roadside.

This beach is also wheelchair accessible although the hill gradient is a bit steep and assistance would be required.

Oh and be sure to apply some insect repellant if you have sensitive skin (applicable to most beaches here), as dawn/dusk or even a light drizzle of rain can bring out tiny biting insects.

Beautiful, one of my favourite places. Even if the beach is crowded, there is always a spot you can find to feel secluded and away from it all. The water is so fun, have to be a good swimmer. I especially love getting a little nook that’s in a cave in the rocks, laying down and reading all day. The sand flies are definitely something to consider.

Nice nice and nice really enjoyed relaxing and baiting on this beach, it's a must go see if you are around.

Quieter and nicer beach than Maracas

Maracas is crass and busy and noisy. This still has decent crowds on a weekend but calmer, without the greasy food joints. The Las Cuevas Beach Lodge is a middlin-fair place, over-priced during Carnival but, the rest of the year, prices would be proportionate to what you get. For an added treat, walk around the beach to the right to the old Fort Abercomby to see the cannons and lookout station; down some steep steps to the right is a lovely hideaway cove.

Though I've been to this beach a few years ago, I went with my cousin and fell hopelessly in love. Maracas Bay had always been my jam but Las Cuevas is a beach of natural beauty!!! Blue water, clean white sand, a mini cave, elevated mountain scenery. Definitely will be back!❤🇹🇹

Ok beach but bugs are BAD!

Bring bug spray for sure! But even that doesn’t help with the amount of sand fly’s that are there! The beach looked beautiful but we didn’t stay to long due to the amount of sand flys! Still a must see beach while in Trinidad. Maybe the time we went the bugs was out!

Beautiful but Bring Bug Spray

This beach is amazing! Water is a little rough, but fun if you are a decent swimmer. Short drive from Maracas (where the food is). Wish I looked up reviews first as my feet and ankles were itching days later from the sand flies :(
Worth the visit 100% , just bring the bug spray!

We were a little disappointed in this beach. The photos on the internet do not represent this beach at all. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax this would be perfect. If you're looking for the beautiful ambiance this is not it. Water was blue at all and the sand was dirty brown. Not a fan of this beach.
