We have dove all over the Carribean, gulf of Mexico & Hawaii & Collette is by far our favorite dive operator. We are planning a trip this winter & intend to use 6paq for the third time.

Dive master Colette is a true gem! We are so incredibly grateful we chose to book our trips with her. My husband and I came over with our teenage son and my elderly father and Colette took exceptional care of us all. My son and I are licensed divers and this was his first dive trip, and both our first time in the Virgin Islands. She created a custom package to fit our family's needs and travel dates. We did 4 days of diving hitting new sites every time, including a day bopping around BVI and a night dive - Wow! 2 of the days my husband and father joined us and did some snorkeling. Our expeditions were private and Colette doesn't miss a beat. Her experience and comfort puts you right at ease. She's a brilliant woman and I'd dive with her anywhere.
I really really wanted to see a sea turtle and although I didn't get to see one the first day I did the next which was my birthday so it couldn't have been a sweeter gift than to spend 10 minutes diving with a beautiful sea turtle! We saw and experienced so much with Colette, she also taught us a lot and we left feeling quite accomplished. I also left with a new and dear friend.

P.S. I know her boat was damaged in the hurricane but I do hope she's able to recover and start diving again soon! We love you Colette!

I have been diving with Colette for 10 years. I have used probably 4 different dive outfits in the Caribbean. She is hands down the best. Just finished up 4 dives with her including two days of private charter on the 6 Paq with 4 people. I was the only diver so the other three snorkeled while she and I went down. All has a great time. Super safe and super fun!! She has worked with me over the years and my diving skills have developed very well. If you are newer to diving and if you listen and do as she says, you will have a lot more bottom time. If you are experienced and want a no BS operator to show you the best, she is your operator. She is a small outfit and you get very personalized attention. If you want to dive with a crowd, go somewhere else. If you want the best dive experience, book her. Tell her the 'CPA' sent ya.

Back to St. John for our seventh time since 2010. Colette certified both my son and daughter a few years back. Dove again with her today as I wouldn't trust anyone else on the island to dive with. I've tried one of the others our first year down here, but it was a cattle-like experience. She takes time to ensure everyone is well refreshed prior to diving. Both kids and myself have mastered neutral buoyancy under her teaching and additionally our breathing. I had one of my longest dives ever today. We've done both boat and shore dives with her and all our experiences were safety first and enjoyable. For a safe boutique personal diving experience check out Colette Diede with 6-Paq SCUBA.

We spent 4 days diving with Colette and 6 Paq. I was with my wife and 3 kids (ages 12,14, and 17). My 12 year old was finishing up his certification dives. Colette was very patient with the kids and it was really nice to have a private dive experience. We have dove with both low key and Cruz bay water sports in the past and would definitely recommend 6 paq. All of our dives were excellent and it nice to feel safe in very capable hands. Colette - Thanks for helping make a great vacation.

Thank you Collette for making my first ever trip to St John & the BVI memorable with two excellent dives at Tobago, the Coral Gardens and the Cavern! I really appreciate your excellent instruction and tips on how to improve my breathing and fining in surges (1st time diving in surges for me)! Loved the pointer about "sipping at my air like I was sipping hot chocolate slowly through a straw"! Thanks to your expert help with my weights I was able to stay down for longer bottom times! Can't wait to dive with you again this coming July!

Loved seeing the 4 baby manta rays, all the different ocean life and the beautiful coral gardens and cavern! WOW, it was awesome to have you as my dive master for the day! I really enjoyed my trip with you and my friend. Thanks you for all your personal, excellent instructions and help!

Diving 40 years and have never felt unsafe until diving with 6paq this week, and losing sleep over writing a negative review, but for safety reasons as soon as I was back on shore I started calling to rebook my second day with another dive group. Thankfully 6paq also cancelled the rest of the week because of engine problems, which are the least dangerous of their problems. I picked them because we like to go with small groups with good reputations and a mix of advanced and beginning divers is usually fun and well done by the groups we have used elsewhere. Morning of the dive came to the shore/bay, and equipment is all over the shore, should have been the first clue. We helped load or we would be waiting another half hour to get aboard. But when on board listened to stories about blizzards in North Dakota and surges and current, and fin stiffness etc for another 1/2 hour, and never did a boat safety check (I asked where extinguisher, life jackets etc were located , otherwise we were never going to know). Two divers were having problems putting rental wrist computers on, because buckles were missing or the remnants were zip tied to their pressure gauges. Finally under way, one of two engines out ("thats been a problem, the additive did not help...") but arrived at dive site, and other dive boats already anchored; 15 minutes spent deciding whether to go to another site (5 minutes away) or wait; finally captain decides and in we go at the alternative; no diver ok eval, first mate was having tough time figuring out who was going and when on which side of boat etc. Come up from our 35 foot dive with half a tank left, empty water bottles from other divers already on board floating in the stern water along with fins.... Second dive plan was 2 of us would go in before the less experienced divers and stay in longer since we were better on air use, but captain/divemaster hand signals underwater so confusing I wasn't sure what was going on nor were the other divers....came up to end the confusion, and the dive.
Captain/owner is probably a great beginning instructor, probably a great divemaster in the water (we will forgive the going after the stingray to pet it, although I am not sure anyone would have been able to get us back to shore/run the boat if she was injured). 6paq needs to update outdated gear (I was waiting for the US diver jet fins to come out) and get a well trained assistant to load/set up check divers/equipment etc and drive to sites while we get dive plan/ safety info etc. . 6 hours for 2 shallow dives 10 minutes from St. John. A lot of wasted time, and very questionable safety.

We truly regret that this diver felt unsafe and any of our actions that contributed to this feeling. We do our best to make sure that each outing is safe and we can get to the best sites available on any given day depending on seas, conditions and the experience levels on the boat. We do long briefings to augment experience with recent knowledge and information. The captain divemaster being reviewed has 6800 dives spanning 30 years, with over 6000 in the Virgin Islands waters helping divers of all experience levels during the past 17 years and well over 2000 days on the water in this boat; a PADI master dive instructor with s a NAUI instructorship who has performed underwater inspections on dams and canals under challenging visibility, temperature and currents with specialized training from the experts who write the textbooks. Our briefings include how to handle the key elements of buoyancy control as well as how to handle challenging currents and surge which are typical in our waters especially during the "Christmas winds" as locals refer to the typical sea conditions that accompany the change of fall to winter. We use a non-diving analogy familiar to divers, (blizzards or hurricanes) to persuade divers to stay close to the bottom where currents and surges are less, much easier to handle, with less effect on air consumption. The boat is equipped with all Coast Guard required safety gear. Both times we have been boarded by the coast guard we got the coveted gold sheet, meaning no corrections were made then or during hull inspections. Dive Pressure Gauges were replaced or supplemented within the last 6-9 months with computers for all divers. We provide these computers free of additional charge. The new computers are buckled and then zip tied to the bc's as an added precaution to avoid loss during the dive. Often wrist computers and compasses are dropped during dives so we prefer this method. BC'S are new within 6-18 months. We carry every type of spare gear on board provided free of charge, backup regulators, bcs, masks and fins of all sizes to seasickness, benadryl, on addition to Coast Guard required first aid kit elements. Regular routine maintenance is performed on the boat on or before manufacturer recomendations. Water was detected during daily maintenance last week when we did go out in rough seas and strong surge to the further more advanced sites because the experience levels, comfort, and responsiveness of the divers to these more challenging aspects were known; aspects including currents, surge, and rough waters during entries, exits, descents and ascents and while on the dive. We again had some amazing dives at these sites that many shops don't normally frequent. Fuel water separators were drained, inspected or replaced and a moisture absorber added. This was a different fuel additive believed to clogged the fuel line after the test run and while underway on this day. Standard troubleshooting measures were employed on the water immediately. It was fixed as soon as the mechanic was available. The engines are twin yamahas 4-strokes, the new model with less than 500 hours on them. These can be compared to the old maytag commericials. They are generally considered the best on the market by those familiar with boats and rarely have issues. We have twin engines for the redundancy and safety provided by two. If an issue happens underway, we can always limp home on one engine. Dive site selection. Seas were rough in the south and a north swell was in that day severely limiting dive site selection. That is why 6 local dive boats were waiting for the same moorings at 2 sites. We were waiting for the easier initial entry of those 2 sites. We waited until we determined that the shops were only halfway through their dive. We preferred this site because there are less waves and the entry depth is only 8-11 feet, much better when diving the first time with people. It is hard to predict what any diver's comfort level will be. We dive from a 26 foot boat and do have a very experienced instructor/captain though she is small and female. We do recommend that we dive from a closer easier site until we have established a rapport or awareness of the divers abilities and comfort levels and how they respond to site conditions and our staff. Our computers recorded a max depth of 50+ feet on both dives. Most of the sites around st john are between 40-60 feet. Corlntributing to the chaos that day was probably something we shouldn't have tried to squeeze in. We did respond to a rather plaintive request from someone on island wanting to rent tanks on christmas day. He said no one would rent him tanks. This seemed a little too much like "No Room at the Inn" and we tried to get him tanks and weights that morning, which along with a compass use session led to us being late in loading the boat. Something that is usually comokete by the tine guests arrive. The compass wrist strap which was fine the day before had somehow lost its buckle. The guest writing this review arrived early. The guest regretfully did not raise these concerns with our captain while underway where we may have been able to mitigate or alleviate the concerns, nor did he let us know that he made alternative arrangements with another shop at the time he made them. We do not generally rent out tanks and weights and squeezed in an exception. To make someone's holiday trip what they were hoping for... We do our best every day to provide a safe dive to the best sites available depending on seas and our guests. Our returning divers have enjoyed dives to the further sites under challenging conditions. We do includes a briefing covering the issues we have seen over the last 6000 dives. It is a huge upet to know this guest was so displeased and felt so uncomfortable. Our goal is to make people's vacations better.

My son and I had one previous diving experience five years prior to connecting with Colette Diede of 6 Paq Scuba. All I can say is that the experience with Colette couldn't be better. I went with my son and son-in-law who had never dived previously. the 90 minutes Colette spent with us on land made me realize how unprepared we were for the dive with another company 5 years previously. Colette was warm, patient, and clear in all of her guidance. She ensured that we had a safe and really transcendent experience. Simply put, whether you are a first time diver or an experienced one, you could not find a better teacher. If you have never dived previously, I guarantee that you'll have the experience of a lifetime.

Had a great 2days with Colette!
She was very flexible and took me some great dive sites.
I have gone diving the last 4 years with the local resort and been to all the near St. John sites but Colette took me to sites I have never dove ( a few were her little secret;).
She took me over to the BVI and had a great 2 dives and lunch at a fun east-indies dive bar over.
