Best beach ,quiet and snorkeling as well.Bring your own chairs ,cooler and sandwiches.save money.They do offer bar drinks and food as well as chair rentals

Saint John was everything we heard and read about and more. Picturesque, magical, tropical, relaxing, beautiful…the list goes on. Delete ALOT of your old pics because your arm will get tired here. The contrasts from water to sky to sand to trees is unlike any other island we’ve been to.
There’s always someplace fun to eat and drink (expensive). You can shop at one of the few supermarkets (very expensive.) and make your own. There’s really only one shopping area (mongoose junction) so you won’t be distracted with that for very long.
We stayed in a villa on Mamey Peak Road near Coral Bay. (Note: if you’re going to advertise that you have a hot tub, it should actually be working) Please note that Mamey Peak Road is not really a road because it’s an unpaved, pothole filled, hilly, rutted track. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
The roads on St. John are an exciting adventure to drive up and down with some hairpin turns, lots of switchbacks, rocks, donkeys, deer, roosters, etc. Get a Jeep!
Rental cars are abusively expensive.
We would go back tomorrow.

We hiked the Lind Point Trail (~25 minutes) to get to the beach, from the USVI visitor center. There is parking at the visitor center, and bathrooms. When we got to the beach on a Saturday morning, it was relatively empty. We waded and marveled at the beauty... boats and other islands in the distance, intense turquoise water. We didn't notice any concessions or other amenities there when we visited; maybe too early in the morning? It was absolutely lovely, and peaceful.

After taking a taxi to the Honeymoon Beach entrance, we had to take (and pay) a shuttle to get to the actual beach. This was a bit surprising and unexpected. The beach itself is gorgeous!! There also was a concession stand that served alcoholic drinks. We were there later in the afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all.

The new owners running the concessions at honeymoon need to be reigned in. I'm not an expert in the law, but the fact that they are not allowing beach goers that hike in with their own chairs to sit anywhere on the beach, but isolating them on one side is atrocious. At one point in our stay, their side of the beach was completely empty and the left side ful of people due to them saying they had rights to that side of the beach. In addition, I saw them confiscating peoples coolers, who road the shuttle in saying that they weren't allowed to drink their own beverages, but had to utilize the concession stands. I understand they have the lease to run the concession stands, but I'm not sure that they can limit access to a publicly owned beach in a national park. With that being said, the employees were very courteous and kind. It's clearly not their fault, but comes from upper level management giving the directive.

Good snorkeling at south end near point between Solomon and Honeymoon beaches. Currents were strong, but manageable, on the day of our visit. Lots of fish near the coral.

The amenities at Honeymoon Beach are up and running. My wife and I made the easy 30 minute hike from Cruz Bay and we weren't expecting any amenities based on information I had found, but were pleasantly surprised to find food service, beverage/bar service, beach chair rental, showers, and even a small boutique store. It appears all lf this has recently re-opened. Of course, none of this is inexpensive, but it was nice to have all these options on such a great beach.

We were the only people there when we arrived after hiking the Lind Trail. A few kayakers came while we were there. Such a peaceful and beautiful place.

This is a beautiful beach and an easy hike to get to it. There are many posts about this beach saying it has a restaurant and water gear to rent. This is no longer true. The buildings are vacant. Still an amazing beach with wonderful sea life. Turtles and rays are common.

Hi - Last year in late December, we were on a cruise ship excursion "St. John on your own" and decided to walk to Honeymoon Beach with only 2 hours to spare. Luckily, a local in a car took us with her but we still had to walk down the trail and in the end had not only 60 minutes at this super gorgeous beach! Fortunately, we could take a Dinghy back to Cruz Bay. I researched this and supposedly there are no more Dinghies but only golf carts and taxis. That's not per se a problem but I think time wise this might be even worse. Any recommendation is highly appreciated as I am truly in love with that beach!

Re: the question about time from Honeymoon Beach back to the ferry drop and pick up . . . When we were ready to leave Honeymoon beach after enjoying the services provided by Bri and Tim of EcoTours, Tim provided a golf cart ride to a taxi pick-up and in a matter of minutes we were picked up by the taxi. I don't remember exactly how long the entire process was, but it seemed like well under half an hour. Nevertheless I recommend allotting at least that much time just in case you have to wait if the beach is crowded. There was no crowd while we were there, and Bri and Tim made sure that we were well taken care of.

There is always a guy on the beach 1st thing in the morning right in front of St John spice, just ask him about it. We didn’t need to reserve anything online ahead of time in May.

Yes , at the National Park Service visitors center, go in and tell them your hiking to the beaches and they will give you a pass for your car to park there.

Anyone know the price of kayak rentals? Thinking of renting a tandem kayak for a few hours. We have our own snorkel gear and don't need beach chairs or anything else, so we don't need the 'bundled' $49 pp option.

You can rent the kayak at Honeymoon beach for $20 or do the special...for $49 you can have any of the toys all day, including chairs!
Great bar and restaurant right on the beach at the rental place. Otherwise, take your cooler of beer, snacks, etc. Just remember, no glass, and don't make the cooler too heavy if hiking.

Yes pretty much everything is still closed but we took a tour from our ship and we started at the National Park office where the trail starts. We hiked in and hiked out but our tour company does offer boat rides

Hi I was on Honeymoon beach on February 10 and it was beautiful. The reefs have taken some damage, but the beach, and the Lind Point train to the beach were in fine shap
