This is a great place to visit which I keep recommending to everybody who is into nature as it is a great sanctuary to all kind of migrating birds and saw lots of geese families some with up to 12 goslings - very hard work for the parents to run after the predators and keep their goslings alive.
- the place is free to access and the main road goes in a circle taking you to the main road leading to the Niagara falls etc
- lots of parking spaces and toilets with naughty tourists parking their car right near the toilet thus blocking access to other people and then they run away as they do not want to pay the parking fee
- the parking fee is indeed a bit expensive if you want to stay less than an hour disgusted what other tourists are doing here disturbing the wildlife
However we will be back as we are keen ornithologists.

Beautiful small walking park. Beware the geese they have squatters rights. I was enchanted by the lovely ponds and little islands.

Most tourists will come across this park area while driving along the Niagara Parkway, south of the Falls. It can also be accessed from above via Burning Spring Hill, near Marineland. It's a quiet area, good for walking and seeing wildlife. It was
very popular with Canada geese. There are some paths you can take. I had to backtrack on one of them, Canada geese chicks sitting on the asphalt with parents close by. Brings some sandwiches and enjoy a picnic, the avian life in particular squawking away. The area is roughly a half hour walk north toward the Falls. It is hard to imagine such a tranquill place as humming, late 18th century industry with a water-powered saw and grist mill and an iron foundry.

Very nice walking area and away from the typical tourist area - but nearby. Part of the walk takes you along the area before the falls and also an old power plant. Quiet, beautiful stroll.

Stopped there during Festival of Lights, great location we did by car with stops. Looks great for a walk during day as well.

We had no idea what that place was, never heard it. We were biking from Niagara Falls and saw the sign and decided to check it out... Wow! It was really nice. Lot's of wildlife, very well maintained and not busy. We are very happy we have discovered this place.

This has been one of our favourite quiet spots for a rest from the hubbub of Niagara. Now, it's another expensive stop. Why isn't there a parking pass which would cover parking in any location?

I like the Dufferin Islands Park.
We hike or walk.
I love the Niagara River.
There are a lot of birds here.
This is worthwhile to have a picnic.
There is a fountain and small cascade.

Are the paths paved for people with walkers & strollers? Can you recommend any other accessible parks nearby? Its hard to take a rollator on gravel/rock paths & the wheels get ruined. I have never been to this area other than the flower clock tower & the falls area before.

The path are not paved but are clean enough around the lake for a wheel chair user which I observed during my visit (I would avoid the wooded area). The Niagara fall area has many walking path which are either paved or tapped into a comfortable surface.

There are no attractions here, but it's lovely to walk across the bridges around the lakes and islands to explore and relax. There are ducks and geese to feed and plenty of places to have a picnic. Allow about an hour to walk around, or longer if you plan to take a picnic. Parking is free and the islands can also be reached by the WeGo buses.

Hi, i have not been in almost ten years. have they removed the ability to swim in the water within the islands? it used to allow families to swim with a no trip access point. TIA

I would agree, I dont see very many adults swimming in there, I dont think its as clean as it use to be. Also there are beavers....mostly people go there to walk or to picnic or just a quiet place to relax.

during a walk today, I found out there are beavers at Dufferin Islands and may trees were down because of them. how many beaver reside there and what time of day and year would you be able to witness them nawing on the trees. there was also a foliage that was growing in the wet land close to the water that looked like an amerlia plant when it first grows out of its bulb. my daughter said she has seen a purple flower on them. what are they

I have seen what looks like a purple/blue Iris in one pond.. New yellow ones were planted this year.
