Is the library still to be closed down next year for the clearing and redevelopment of the site? What will happen to the parts of the collection/stock that won't fit into the new library being formed out of the old building society office on the Armada Way corner of Mayflower St?
Apparently the city library which is adjacent to the museum (most people think it is just one building) is to close in Spring 2016 and will then be moved temporarily or permanently to some underused commercial space on the corner of Mayflower St and Armada Way. I think the intention is to substantial alter, redevelop and extend the existing Library/Art Gallery/Museum site and across Tavistock Place at the back. It will evidently take ages and the exact plan has not yet been disclosed. Do the Museum Art Gallery management know how this will affect the day to day running of their building? When will the disruption start? Is there any possibility that the extensive collection may be exposed to wide public view by being displayed elsewhere in the city? What's afoot?
