This is a great path to get to all 3 distilleries without using the car . We had booked a tour at Lagavulin for 11. We left Port Ellen at 9.30 and got there at 10.30. After the tour we walked another 15 mins Ardbeg had lunch there from the airstream trailer then walked back down to Laphraig . Would recommend

This walk is the best thing to do in Islay. I booked in advance the Experience tour at Laphroaig which started at 10:30am which gave us a lot of time to walk from Port Ellen after breakfast. We then finished the other two distilleries. At Ardberg you can have a picture of the letters by the water, too. We then looked at Google Maps to see what time the bus would go back to Port Ellen. When the bus arrived, we tapped our credit card and returned to Port Ellen.

A good pathway separate from the road for walking/cycling to see the three distilleries. Very quiet and spacious and an easygoing path without many steep sections. Whisky available at all the distilleries and coffee and food available at Ardbeg from its trailer cafe.

The single highlight of our trip to Islay. Safe off road path which allowed us to visit the distilleries with organising transport and taking in beautiful scenery.

It's my dream hiking path. My 3 favorite scotches within 2 miles of each other! Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and Lagavulin.

Very pretty paved path along the the coast. We did Laphroig first, then Ardbeg, the. Finished up with full tour/tasting at Lagavulin. Ardbeg had a food truck with barbecue and lots of other choices, If you don’t want to walk the entire 6 miles, you can get cabs, but need to reserve way ahead.

We walked this both ways starting at Port Ellen, and made a day of it, visiting the distilleries on the way back (you could easily just do one way with a bus/taxi). There is a chance to take in some lovely scenery on the way, and stop off for some food/drink. Check opening hours if you are set on a particular distillery, they are plenty long enough but could catch you out if you leave it too late - 4.30 close when we were there in May.

What an amazing walk and pathway to visit the distilleries. I hope Islay gets more paths like this as it's a great way to see the island.

A great way to get to the three distilleries that is quick and easy to do and gives you some time to walk off some whisky!

While my husband tasted whiskey at the Laphroiag Distillery, I took the pathway in to Port Ellen and back. So picturesque and relaxing. Got a couple of things at the Co-op Market in town and ate breakfast at the tables along the water. Met my husband back at Laphroaig and had lunch together at SeaSalt in town. Excellent experience. Good food and efficiently kind staff. Then when he went to Lagavulin for a 2-hour tasting in the afternoon, I went back on the path from Lagavulin to Ardbeg. Even more beautiful than the morning’s exploration. This was my best day here in Islay. Really couldn’t have been better and my husband loved his whiskey experiences. Don’t miss this beautiful pathway. It’s really lovely.

Where can we park a car at the Port Ellen side to start the pathway?

There is on street parking but we parked at Lagavulin, drank there, had lunch at Ardbeg, walked back to the car and then drive to Laphroaig. Beware, it takes longer than you think.
