Amazing experience! We were guided by Roberto who was a fountain of knowledge! He knew everything about mount Etna! He took us to several geological sites and catered to all of our wants. Would highly recommend.

An amazing day with Roberto Caudullo. He is a gentle, friendly man, unruffled by last minute changes, inclement weather and teenage boys. He’s a volcanologist and told us so much about the mountain, about other volcanoes, about the plants and trees. He also answered all our questions about Sicily, the culture and the people. We walked for 2 hours in the weird landscape, over previous craters and larva flows. We had a delicious lunch in the forest beside a huge larva flow and then explored a lava tube, a cave, with helmets and torches. Despite driving up Etna (amazing driving by Roberto’s friend Tucci) in a full monsoon-like thunderstorm, we had glorious weather at 2000 feet and the views were breathtaking. Our boys, 14 and 12, loved this day as much as we did. It will live long in the memory!

Yesterday (09-08-2020) we had an excellent 4x4 tour with our guide Roberto. We choose for an individual tour with the 3 off us (parents and son (12)). This turned out to be an great choise. Roberto picked us up at our hotel in Biancavilla and discussed our preferences for the day. We enjoyed the off road part, the visitinig of the caves and the enthusiastic stories of Roberto about the vulcano itself but also about the history and cultural habits. After being brought back to our hotel we looked back to the trip with a big smile and a lot of memories. Thanks Volcano Trek and thanks Roberto.

Roberto is a passionate guide. His vision of his job of guide is to transmit culture, not
to provide entertainment. If you want to visit Etna with as specialist of geology, and not a TV game presenter, he is the guy that you need.

Roberto just loves Mt. Etna and his enthusiasm bubbled up like the lava does from time to time. Roberto tailored everything to our desires and interests: meeting point, lunch arrangements, places we visited. He is so enamored of Etna that at one point, when we were aboard the bus to the cable car to the summit, he actually got the busfull's attention to share some info about the geology. We learned so much - by experiencing it -- that our day on Mt. Etna will always be one of my favorite memories of our trip to Sicily.

Four of us had an exciting day hiking on Etna with Roberto as our guide. He was flexible about our meeting point, and tailored the trip to suit our interests and abilities, showing us many of the wonders of this place on a speleological tour, It was sometimes hard going but the pay off made it worth while. After our picnic lunch in the forest we were caught in a hail storm with hailstones the size of golf balls. We survived without injury as we were prepped with hard hats for the lava tubes! This is the second time I have used VolcanoTrek, and I can heartily recommend their friendly and informative service.

We picked the Volcano Trek company to take us up on a guided tour to the summit craters. Due to a recent eruption, they told us the summit is closed off (hint, it wasn't and groups were taken up at regular intervals by other guides).
Their advertised price for the full summit trip was 85 eur (inc cable car + bus) + 25 eur hotel transfer. We got charged 90 eur per person for the guide who took us to the Etna station, where we had to pay 64 per person to go up with another company (not all the way to the crater, mind you). Coming down the guide took us on a 20 min walk around a small crater beside the tourist station and brought us home.
In total they charged us 308 euros for a trip that was advertised at 220 total for two people and they didn't even take us up to the advertised spots, neither did pretty much any walking around with us.

Posto e guida stupendi, per noi la prima volta in assoluto e consigliamo vivamente a tutti la nostra stessa esperienza. Roberto Caudullo è stata una guida precisa, attenta, gentile e soprattutto competente. Ha saputo metterci a nostro agio dal primo momento facendoci fare un percorso interessante e rispondendo a tutte le nostre domande.
