Alleen een proeverij met uitleg over de verschillende terroirs

Wij hadden een proeverij geboekt voor 6 Pinot Noir wijnen. We kregen een heel klein beetje wijn per soort, maar gezien de hoge prijzen per fles (€ 60,-- tot € 400,--), was dat wel begrijpelijk. Ook een korte uitleg over de bodemsoorten en ligging van de verschillende druivensoorten. Er werd gelukkig niet gepusht om wijn te kopen. De wijn was lekker, maar de prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding was voor ons zoek. Het gebouw zelf wordt ingrijpend verbouwd, dus geen rondleiding door de kelders.

Ik ben erg bedroefd dat uw ervaring op Château de Pommard u niet heeft betoverd. Wat onze proefdoses betreft, volgen wij de normale doseringen waardoor klanten de wijnen kunnen proeven zonder beïnvloed te worden door alcohol. Het zou van onze kant niet verantwoord zijn om 5 tot 6 volle glazen te serveren aan onze klanten die in de meerderheid daarna terugkeren naar hun voertuig.

Tourist trap

We went to Chateau Pommard upon recommendation from the hotel. The chateau and the grounds are beautiful. The explanation of the different soils was very educational and impressive. There were several things that bothered me with this chateau. First, we were standing the whole time for the presentation and the tasting was standing at a counter as well. It is a more expensive wine tasting experience than other vineyards, so I will want a different glass for each wine I taste. When I asked for another glass so I can compare 2 separate wines, there was some hesitance. In general I did not like their wines, and when I inquired upon tasting different ones, again it was said that they were not included for tasting .( FYI, I went for the highest price point in the tasting category) . After the presentation, the wine advisor kept trying to convince us to buy wine and sign up to their program. The whole thing felt very commercialized, targeted to American Tourists. I would have liked to see where they store the wine, ferment, bottle etc.... while the chateau and the grounds are pretty, the experience is not. I recommend you try other wineries which are less commercialized and more authentic.

Bonjour, I am really sorry you have not enjoyed your visit to Château de Pommard. Indeed, our wines tasting are done standing up. But, we could give you a high chair if you ask for. I understand you wanted 2 different glasses to compare wines and the wine advisor should give you some. I am sorry if it was not the case. Our highest wine tasting includes 6 wines among our best cuvées. As you have certainly seen during your visit, our domain is actually is under a big project of renovation, that's why it is not possible to see the cellars and the winery. Best Regards

Very nice experience and interesting information from our host/guide.
The explanation about the chateau and its different kinds of territories was very interesting.

Our host Stephanie was great combining her vast knowledge of Pommard and wine in general with her warmth and humour in the presentation. Good value for money but would definitely book a longer trip if we return to Pommard just to look around the chateau and extend the experience.

Not really a tour, but enjoyable and interesting
Our docent was charming and knowledgeable. This wasn't as much a tour as a mini-lecture about the various soils at Pommard and a tasting of 4 wines. If you are looking for a tour of wine-making facilities to see vats and barrels and learn about the process of making wine, this isn't it. But it's a fun experience and only 45 minutes. We were free to wander through the vineyards and a garden afterwards. The town is charming.

Indeed, we don't propose any tour, nor a visit of the cellars at this time due to our renovation work. As soon as renovations will be completed, we will propose a full tour. We hope to welcome you back at this time.

Nous avions réservé la dégustation pour 4 vins et nous avons apprécié. Nous n'avons apporté de souvenir car le coût est élevé pour leur bouteille.

Pas réservé aux Français de la classe moyenne
Tres beau château en réfection, nous étions au courant, l’accueil est chaleureux sans singularité.

Dégustation pour Américains, triste Bourguogne ou tous les prix sont dignes des plus gros attrapes touristes de France et de Navarre. Nous retrouvons aucune générosité, maître d’œuvre de la gastronomie française selon mon principe.
Passionnée par le vin 🍷 la route des vins de Bourgogne représentait un de mes rêves pas encore accompli, il en sera ma plus grande déception. Je laisse le Pommard a qui le veut on a bien mieux en beaucoup plus abordable sur notre chère terre.

Bonjour, Je suis navrée que nos vins ne vous aient pas conquis. Malheureusement le goût est propre à chacun et à ce titre il est impossible de faire l'unanimité. La conversion en biodynamie est une démarche totalement environnementale : meilleur pour le produit, meilleur pour notre santé, meilleur pour la planète. De plus, la viticulture biodynamique est le meilleur moyen d'atteindre l'expression la plus pure du millésime ainsi que des sols, racines, vignes, raisins du Clos Marey-Monge, elle produit aussi des vins plus savoureux. Ce travail nous prends plus temps et est donc plus couteux. Ce qui explique le tarif de nos vins.

I highly recommend tours through Chateau de Pommard. I arranged tours in advance of our trip and Jeremy was the most helpful, friendly, and responsive of the people with whom I communicated. He went above and beyond what would be expected from someone. The wine tasting at Chateau de Pommard was excellent and we liked the atmosphere of the Chateau and its tasting room much more than we liked the cellar at another winery. We were especially happy that we had also included a local sightseeing excursion in the area as part of their On the Road Again experience. Gaetan was an excellent guide and tailored the drive to what he thought we would most enjoy. He drove us up to a castle and a lookout that had beautiful views of the valley. It was a very memorable drive. We were very happy to have chosen this experience through Chateau de Pommard.

Now owned by an American, takes on some of the Napa style for joining their club and achieving vip status for free shipping to the US and access to bottles not available for sale. Priced on the higher end but overall a good product with a beautiful venue. Renovations under way for more space in 2024.
