- Pros: good food, including vegan and halal; reasonable price (food, multipurpose space); has prayer space; the staffs speak great english and super interesting; options to spend time.
- Cons: the serving time can be long; if you come in a group of 4 or more, it's best to call or text in advance.
The place is multi-purpose. There are reading materials about culture, lifestyles, travel, architecture, etc., plus souvenirs from the founders' trips throughout Japan and some other countries. Additionally, there are working/studying space, exhibition/event space, even a prayer space. The fee for using their space is reasonable, including the food price as well. And they open really late, til 10pm or later. As a (former) student in Beppu, this co-working space is unbeatable for me ngl.
The founders/staffs speaks good English, Japanese and Chinese. They are very friendly and enthusiastic to share with you the stories behind their mementos and journeys. Vice versa, they are also eager to listen to their guests.
Moreover, they serve Malaysian dishes with inclusive options like vegan and halal. The price is reasonable, almost too low for the experience, imo. I also love that they have an eco discount policy. Zero waste is very encouraged here, which I personally endorse.
The location is also a huge plus point for me. It's in Hamawaki area in Beppu, an old local community yet underexplored by non-local residents. It's not too far from the station so you can walk or cycle there, even take the train to the Higashi Beppu station to reach the area.
Overall, the museum has a good vibe to take your time, explore around, and exchage ideas.
