I did this walking tour in May 2023 with Ben. He was a superb tour guide, possibly the best walking tour I've done. He was extremely animated and charismatic, which makes the history and culture really come to life.

Ben was a great guide and had obviously done a lot of research into the world of Tea Houses. He took us around the flower towns and explained how to identify Tea Houses and the significance of the wooden boards outside. During our tour we spotted 1 Geicko (Geisha) and 2 Maicko (trainees).
The group was not too large, and we were able to hear what Ben was saying.I would thoroughly recommend anyone to do this tour.

Unfortunately our guide spoke such poor English that it was almost impossible to piece together what she was trying to say. There were frequent stops where she was obviously trying to communicate some bit of history but no one could really understand what she was saying. By the time we gave up and left I would say about half the group had already left the tour. It’s unfortunate because the area we were in was very interesting and I would have liked to know more about it. I feel like if your job is to guide English tours you should at least be proficient in english

We attended this tour in May. We also did the free tour of Osaka Localized and Tokyo Localized. We got what we expected: we visited interesting places in Kyoto and got information on the local culture. We also got what we didn't quite expect: which was the story of Benkei and Yoshitsune, and we also got sunburnt pretty badly ^^'

I went to the night tour of the Kyoto and we just gave up after 30 minutes… we were a big group, the accent of the tour guide was awful and didn’t understand anything for the first 30 min … and the tour guide always stopped next to loud spots…

We had. an amazing experience with our tour guide Kana at the Kyoto Night Walking Tour.
She made the tour very exciting and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for people visiting Kyoto.

Loved this walking tour of the Geisha district. Our guide, Hanna, was so cute and likable. She was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour.

We met our tour guide, Ben, in front of the McDonald's near the Shijo Ohashi Bridge. The walking tour covered the areas of Gion, Chion-in temple, Higashiyama and the Kiyomizu-dera temple.
Ben, who I believed is a teacher, was a fantastic guide/excellent speaker as was able to share his vast array of knowledge in a effective and interesting way. He supplemented his knowledge with appropriate photographs. While there were some semi-challenging uphill/up stairs walking for the older members of our group, the pace of the tour was casual/enjoyable.
We would have had a very difficult time conducting this tour on our own and would have never known a lot of the interesting historical information Ben readily provided.
For those visiting Kyoto for the first time, I highly recommend this five star tour. Thanks Ben and Kyoto Localized for making our visit to Kyoto so much more enjoyable.

We really enjoyed our night walk in Kyoto. Ada, our guide, was knowledgeable and made time to answer questions about everywhere we visited. Well worth making time for.

The visit was complete and nice. It helped us have a better idea of Japan's history and how it was related to each of the places we were visiting. Hiroka-san was well-prepared and willing to reply to all of the group's doubts, she was very kind and patient.

Súper recomendable! Hicimos ambos tours, el de día y el de noche. Dai es súper paciente y amable, te da tiempo para que saques fotos, descanses y en días de calor busca lugares con sombra para poder explicar sobre los distintos sitios que visitamos. Ademas es súper predispuesto a las preguntas y sacar dudas durante el tour. Aprendimos muchísimo sobre las geishas (ademas de que pudimos ver una), historia y religión de Japón. Realmente un gran tour! Thanks Dai!!!!
