Authentic and Unique Experience

Emi's cooking class was such a highlight! Her warm hospitality in her Japanese home enhanced this cooking experience. Beautiful ingredients and a wealth of knowledge made this a "MUST-DO" for anyone interested in Japanese cooking and an authentic experience. All recipes were interesting, delicious and easily adapted for use back home. Highly recommended.

Other Reviewers Are Right!

All the other positive reviewers are totally correct. This class was awesome. Emi was warm and enthusiastic, and the entire experience was fun and informative. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our two-week trip. Best for a small group (around 4 people) and not for young kids, especially given the knife-work.

Amazing personal experience

Emi's cooking class is truly special and a highlight of our trip. She is so sweet and her delivery is informative and she teached us the fundementals of japanese cooking. The reviews say it all, and I highly encourage everyone to join her class if you are in Kyoto.

Great cooking class with Emi. Emi introduces lots of different local ingredients and how to cook with them in simple, yet delicious and nutritious ways! This is a true authentic Japanese experience, where you are invited into Emi’s kitchen and I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Emi is welcoming and friendly :)

Great Kyoto food experience

This is an experience to remember for life! Thank you for such a pleasant experience. Our 6 years old wants to return everyday for the rest of our trip! We especially love learning how to make the sauces and how easy it is to make delicious food. Most importantly learning about the local way of life here. Thank you once again.

Wonderful experience! Amazing food!

My husband and I had a private cooking class with Emi at her home in Kyoto - it was a highlight of our trip. This was part cooking lesson/demonstration and part hands-on. My husband who is a more adventurous eater, tried everything! Emi kept pulling out more spices and sauces that we've never tried before from her pantry and my husband loved comparing all the different flavors. The food was excellent - we had a sesame dressed salad to start, grilled salmon, a shrimp lotus root "burger" with sautéed scallops, beef and asparagus and delicious homemade strawberry "sorbet" for dessert. Everything was excellent and it was so much fun! I would highly recommend this for any couple, family or small group if you're looking for an authentic Japanese cooking experience.

Auf Empfehlung haben wir bei Emi einen Kochkurs besucht. Sehr engagiert und humorvoll hat Emi uns einen Einblick in ihre Kyoto Küche vermittelt und sie auch praktisch erfahren lassen. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet.

Lots of fun and small group environment

Emi was such a delight! We really enjoyed our time with her and learned a lot not only about the dish we were making but also about Tokyo/Japan. We would’ve enjoyed and even more hands on experience, (some parts were watching rather than doing) but also recognize the challenge with such a small group.

A highlight of Kyoto!

If there is one thing we would recommend people to experience in Kyoto, this would be it!
We were visiting Japan on our honeymoon and this experience with Emi was extremely unique!

Emi replied quickly to our booking and enquiries including us asking whether we would make a certain dish- one of our personal, Japanese favourites. Emi adapted her dishes for this!

Details were clear on how to get to her meeting point and it was incredible to be welcomed into her home and her kitchen!

We loved being with Emi who was so kind, friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel at home, in her own!

Food- sensational! Fresh produce, beautifully cooked and even better, left overs were packed away for us to take with us!

Can’t thank Emi enough! 5 stars isn’t enough!

An excellent class with a great teacher

Last week my wife and I took a vegetarian cooking class with Emi. It was exactly what we were hoping for. From the moment we met up, Emi was gracious, patient, and generous with her knowledge. Learning from her in her kitchen was a treat. She was more than willing to answer our many questions and had handouts and books available if we wanted to get more detail about some of the ingredients. We look forward to making some of the dishes we made with her at home!
