We visited on a Saturday and had the best service from our wine steward. His knowledge of not only the wines, how they are made and the history of the area were impressive.
We never felt rushed either.

At the restaurant, the food was very good.

Flyne Tasting isn’t a thing …

Awesome piloting get away. Food and wine are good. Pilot cottages are secluded, well furnished and surround by some fun things to pass the time (swimming, horseshoes, a unique swing).

Margaret was an excellent host. Welcoming and helped shuttle bags back and forth.

A fun place to fly in and relax.

Incredible Rainy Day in Paso wine country at Halter Ranch

A group of 7 ladies enjoyed Paso Wine country this week (1 non-taster/driver). I can not say enough good things about our experience at Halter Ranch. Cassie was our server and she was fun and funny, knowledgeable and informative but not a hovering kind of host. She came and told us all about the wine we were tasting, in a fun way and left us alone after so we could catch up and converse with each other! The food was fantastic, the wine was incredible and of course the friendship and conversation were second to none! Do yourself a favor and experience Halter Ranch for yourself…ask for Cassie!

Really pleased with the decision to go here. Service was top notch. Really good wine tasting. And really enjoyed the burger I had for lunch.

Used to be pet-friendly, now isn't so we chose other wineries that proved to be just as good.

Used to be pet-friendly, now isn't. Too bad as we really like their wine and the food is rather good as well. Used to enjoy the original house and tasting room but now only members get access to that. Still the new, larger facility is very nice. But no pets? Forget about it!

Gorgeous views, great wines (plus lunch!)

We booked lunch with wine tasting and couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon. The staff was friendly and attentive. Lunch (salmon salads and cheeseburgers) was delicious. And the wines in the Ranch flight were very good to one of the best we’ve ever tasted (2017 Ancestor).

The tasting room and lunch patios give guests a stunning view of vineyards, rolling hills and the Ancestor tree, an 800-year-old oak tree and namesake to the winery’s flagship wine.

The road up to the tasting room is short but includes a drive-by of an 1800s Victorian home, a photogenic wooden bridge, and train tracks that will soon be open for vineyard tours. Can’t wait to go back!

Great place for lunch and wine tasting

The winery is located west of Paso Robles. We got a reservation and was able to wine taste and eat lunch on their patio with our dog. The patio and grounds were beautiful. The lunch menu varied from a great salad to hamburgers and other entrees. All the food was delicious. The lady that did the wine tasting was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, made it all very interesting, answered questions so well. This is one of the best places for lunch and wine tasting in the area.

Our mistake...

We had not been to Halter since 2014. They hugely upgraded the facility and it's now a terrific destination with dynamite wines...we will NOT repeat the mistake and let the years pass again without enjoying this site again...a food and wine pairing delight!

Nice view, food, and more importantly wine

Ryan our wine ambassador was very knowledgeable not only about the vines but the wine also. We sat outside in order to enjoy the sights of the vineyard. We ordered wine to send home Syrah 2017, the Carignon was beautiful with a light body !! And the GSTM (cuvée Alice ) was also very nice .
The food we shared was nice and sourced here on property . A nice place to visit !!
