I guess Im not sure what the attraction is. We were looking to walk around Santa Barbara and maybe go to some shops but we found literally nothing of interest. The stores are predominantly high end expensive things. There is definitely a lot of wine tasting rooms and breweries. On a different day we would have gone to a brewery or two but Im not sure what was so special about this area that it gets it's own special name. It didnt really live up to the hype. It wasn't bad it just wasn't much of anything.

Lots of great breweries!

Love this area! Lots of great breweries and restaurants all within walking distance of each other. Parking is a little challenging but worth the time you'll spend in the Funk Zone.

Interesting Walk

Just off State Street, a nice walk, looking thru shops and having food and drink. Don’t bother heading up State Street. Head toward the beach and wharf.

Depressed Commercial Zone

Was amazed that the city has the gall to call this The Funk Zone, should be The Junk Zone. They're trying to convert a depressed commercial zone to booze & food area with mixture of shops...LOL. The streets & sidewalks are in need of repair and are littered with garbage. Overgrown trees, shrubs, and weeds need serious attention. Lighting is limited so walking around at night I wouldn't do. One thing I saw constantly was Santa Barbara Police in the area, hmmm wonder why?

Wineries, wineries, wineries!

If you enjoy sampling wine, you need to stroll through the funk zone. The are stores and restaurants but also lots of wineries. We spent an afternoon walking through the funk zone and doing tastings. We likes many of the wines (and had some shipped home), didn’t like some, and learned a lot.

A must wine experience when in SB

The Funk Zone off lower State St. is a must do when in SB. This is just a fun few blocks of wine and beer places that you can sit outside and relax and experience the area. Great to do on a warm afternoon. There are so many fun places to check out its hard to name any specific ones, but I would highly recommend. It's off lower State and Mason area.
