My wife and I have recently been bitten by the montana sapphire bug and I'm curious if it is only a pay by the bag or if there is a daily access fee and How much it costs?
Hey guys, we were up at your place last year but there were no signs or indications that you offered fee digs. We know how much work it takes, but we like digging for the gems rather than buying "seeded" bags of gravel. Many (35) years ago we worked the Eldorado digs with some success, but now , well, not so much. Send me some pricing for individuals and for a party of 6, for a day of digging and jigging. Thanks

Material is gold dredge tailings from years ago. It is excavated into a pile. From here you dig & dry screen (concentrate). The cost of the concentrated material is $10 per 5 gallon bucket (as of 2015 season), with a minimum of 5 buckets and a free 11th one. Mine owner Bruce will then jig the buckets for you. This is not seeded or searched material.
As far as signs, there are signs there that clearly say "MT Blue Jewel Mine" but no further info. You have to know where you are going or carefully map it out. Best way is to call first. Appointments aren't totally a must but highly recommended. He doesn't like it to get too crowded as to inhibit the experience for the people already there.
They are reworking their website this winter.
