The amazing view today included snow-capped mountains, evergreen trees, rushing river whitecaps, sun, and blue sky. It was an amazing soak and a winning view! Unfortunately, what soured the mood for my family and many others was the dude who 1) brought his dog, 2) smoked cannabis, and 3) spent several hours at this site buck-naked. The site signs state that nudity is prohibited. While most simply moved to another pool for avoidance - it was impossible to catch glimpses while he was prancing around waving his naked junk from the pool to the top landing where he kept his personal stash to the river’s edge and back to the pool. Despite our best efforts to ignore him, the crowds negative undertones overshadowed everyone’s joy. And parents awkwardly tried to shield their kids from the exhibitionist view without success. It baffles me how such people can be so INCONSIDERATE of others enjoyment of public spaces.

Quite a unique experience. Standing in the car park in your swim wear in the chill mountain air, you wonder what on earth you’re doing!
Teeth chattering you head down a 2-3 min walk to the river where the hot springs bubble up and as soon as you immerse yourself in the hot water it’s absolutely worth it.
The pools further from the river are hottest and they get progressively cooler as you get closer to the cold river water - and the ultimate exhilarating experience is to dip in the river before heading back to the hot pools.
After this you really do not feel the chill (subject to weather I guess but it was a cold, cold day when we visited)
Then the walk uphill is a bit of a challenge and the lack of changing facilities is a bit of a pain - but forewarned is fore-armed; take a big towel and a hot flask!
The drive to& from the Springs is on a Forest road of approx 11km long so be prepared for a bumpy ride but all in all, we’ll worth the effort in our experience, and we’re a mature couple.

Road is not as bad as others have reported. It’s gravel and less than a mile (Very end) is close to the edge. If you aren’t comfortable with that, it would be stressful. Road was dry and easily navigable. We arrived about 1:30 in the afternoon (Friday). It was busy (about 30 people), but easily enjoyable. Polls were shared. No complaints. Smells a bit like sulfur, but it’s a natural experience so it’s expected. River is cold and a great way to rinse off and feel 100% rejuvenated. Highly recommend. Great adventure And authenticity. Town and water shoes help the experience but aren’t necessary. Pit toilets at entrance are clean and big.

I would have given this spot a 5/5 except for 3 things. 1) the 18km drive on a rough gravel narrow (at times) windy logging road. 2) there was only one hot spring due to high water and it got crowded real fast and 3) the website said it had change rooms but it was just 2 outhouses at the parking lot to change in.
Having said all that - the springs are quite hot but with lots of sitting spots to get out of the heat for a bit. You could also brave the river to cool off and rinse off but I’m not a very good swimmer (can’t judge currents very well) so personally didn’t do that. The water was constantly being refreshed by the spring coming out of the rock wall so not as much worry about sharing the water with a bunch of other people. And it’s quite scenic up there. Be prepared for the steep walk down - I wore my shoes down not sandals.
I am glad we went as it was an adventure and it was our first time going to a natural hot spring but I don’t think we’d go again. The alltrails reviews we were going off of didn’t mention the 18km drive up the mountain so I guess it wasn’t what we were expecting. Wished I had read the other reviews on trip advisor here first 😜

An 18 km drive on a very narrow active logging road brings you to a natural hot springs. A steep walk down to the pools but well worth it. At high run off the pools in the creek are COLD but the hot pool is hot. Pack out your garbage!!!

If you like to defy death as you travel down a sketchy logging road with numerous washouts that will lead you over a cliff then this trip is for you! Had I have visited youtube to see the drive in, I'd have skipped it for sure. The path down to the springs is very icy I'd highly recommend crampons cause the wooden 'fence' is pretty open and you could easily slip under. Had my 9 y/o with me who slipped a couple times, myself too. Found the visitors enjoying the springs to be pretty rude, as if they owned it and wouldn't let others in. Decided to drive out within minutes of arriving while my adrenaline was still spiked, otherwise I'd have to have lived there, too intense for me! No personal pics of the springs, left my phone in the car as I was scrambled. There was NO way I was walking back down the ice path.

Disregard any negative review about this gem ! People complaining about crowds need to use some common sense and arrive at the right time ( early in the morning or late in the day).It is the same advice that I would give for anyone visiting a special attraction. The surrounding area is stunning and the pools are so relaxing. The water in the upper pool had to be 106 degrees and it was such a nice way to unwind after weeks of daily hiking. We stayed for about 3 hours mid day and then came back for a sunset soak. This is a must do while in this area!

This was a really great experience although the ride in was very long winding and extremely bumpy because it’s a logging road approximately 30 min in. But it was very cool . The river was Freezing and the pools get warmer the closer you get to the mountain. But it can be extremely busy at times. We just missed a huge crowd leaving when we got there. But it was an experience I’m glad we did

Do not recommend, packed with people smoking something, stunk like sewage. Didn't even bother getting in the water.

Routes sinueuses et limite dangereuse pour s'y rendre vu panoramique. Les sources thermales l'endroit super et vu magnifiques sur un cour d eau. Superbe endroit en couple.

How many pools are useable and not submerged as at May 7, 2024? Due to the amount of winter snowfall, the number of soaking pools usually varies between 1-4 pools in May-June.
投稿日:2024年5月6日
Just to be clear. Nudity is not allowed at the hotsprings, but being topless is perfectly legal.
投稿日:2021年5月22日
Just as a suggestion, if you visit and review these natural hotsprings, please include the condition of the gravel road (graded or washboard, etc.). Also, please include the number of soakable small pools as it can vary from 1-5 due to spring snow runoff and river water levels. Thx. PS. The springs are at 17.5km from the highway. Watch for the yellow km markers along the way. The time of day, and weekday you visited is good info too.

How is the road to the springs at the moment? Are they accessible at all times of day or do they close over night?
投稿日:2019年4月17日
The road to the springs is open 24/7/365 24 hours a day. The rare exception is a winter blizzard or summer forest fire. But most of the time the gravel road is open. The springs are at 17.5 km. You can't miss them. PS. Go very late at night for the best experience on a clear night...

Hi Ashlyn,
I see you went here recently. Just wondering how the drive was. I am looking to go at the end of Feb as I will be in Fernie, but there are many post about it being unsafe to get to in winter? What are your thoughts? thanks!
投稿日:2019年1月14日
Hi,
I've never been in the winter, so I can't honestly say if it would be too dangerous. I can see how the road could be quite dodge with ice and snow. Not sure what the avalanche risk is like out there. Hope that helps.

I'm concerned about the road and no guardrails. Am I going to need a change of pants to get to the hot springs?
投稿日:2018年8月21日
Thanks! We went in August and it was pretty darned terrifying, but I'm glad we did it. The hot springs were really cool, much more interesting than the one at Radium that's more like a swimming pool full of hot water.

Sorry for the delayed response. I have no idea, I unfortunately have not had the chance to camp in this area.
