I would not advise it. The bus ride is 5 hours long both ways. However, the west rim is closer if you really want to see the canyon.
On the west rim tour, how much time will we have at the grand canyon before having to get back on the bus? Approximately what time does the West Rim tour bus return to Vegas?

Hi Theresa -- to answer your last question -- you board your sweet tours bus around 1:50pm to leave the Canyon and are back in Vegas usually no later than 4:30/5pm
At south Rim, what points of interest does this tour stop at?

Hi, we stop at Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon Village(some driver prefer to stop at Mather and offer their customers to walk to the lodge). Once you are at Bright Angel Lodge, you should have 3 hours to visit some main point of the South Rim, Yavapai point and Mather point. However, you will have to travel to those points by foot and ride the free Grand Canyon Shuttle Bus System back to Bright Angel Lodge. The walk is about 3 miles.
If you wish not to walk so much, you can walk as little as you like and then back to Bright Angel Lodge.
I personally like to walk one hour to the east of Bright Angel Lodge and then take another hour back to the Lodge. By doing that, you can see the canyon from 2 directions. Even though it is the same trail, but the view is completely different when you walk back.
I suggest that you should save an hour at the village since there are several historical buildings and shops.
I hope I answer your question.
