This is a beautiful park and enjoyable camping experience. There are many full hook up sites. The most scenic ones are along the 4 mile Creek. There are also electric and water only sites along the creek as well. These seem to be the most desirable. There are plenty of good sites in the middle area. Your best bet is to scout out the area to find your perfect site and book early. The Ranger programs were very interesting, the shower houses were clean, the staff was pleasant and the location was close to stores for essentials.

The state park was very nice. The trails were well maintained and well marked. We met Pat, the park superintendent, and he even gave us a ride back to the hotel when my wife thought we had hiked enough. My only compliment was the swimming area in Acorn Lake. It was dirty and obviously a fox or coyote had recently killed a ducked judging from all the feathers floating in the swimming’s area. We just used the pool at the lodge. Very nice.

This is an older campground. The sites are close together. The site are gravel. A few have full hook- ups. Some sit on a muddy bottom creek that looks more like a mud puddle. The water is clear but the bottom is nasty looking. If you have a camper over 25 feet you can get in but be ready for a challenge! We enjoyed exploring the park. There is a church and log cabin from 1804 that is nice. The swim beach was horrible. No way I’d get in that nasty water! It may be better when the water level is up??? You have to walk down a big mountain to get there. You can see the lodge from the bottom of the mountain and there’s a walking bridge over to the lodge. We did not spend much time here. It was a stop on our way across Tennessee in our camper!

I live in Nashville and it's a quick hours drive to Montgomery Bell. Beautiful Middle Tennessee forests and hills make up the park, and we like to kayak or sit on the beach at Lake Acorn. The park staff have always been friendly and helpful. Great place for a peaceful hike alone or a fun weekend with friends/family. Would recommend!!

What a beautiful park in a tranquil setting. Beautifully renovated Lodge with super nice staff. Beautiful lakes, nice trails, golf course and campground. We were not able to enjoy the restaurant as it was closed. With that said the muffins and coffee in the morning was a nice touch and very much appreciated.

Campground is nice but is needing a little TLC. Restroom in our section was not cleaned during our stay and needed more gravel within the campsite. It appeared they were getting into doing some seasonal maintenance. We were creekside. Found out our section of the campground was in it final day of service prior to the maintenance work. Beautiful creek setting and close to the trails.

Enjoyed visiting the Cumberland Presbyterian church, seeing its history and grounds within the park.

Find out who was "TN First Iron Master." Maybe even see a memory of "Ernest Goes to Camp" which was filmed here.

The town of Dickson is close by and also a nice visit. Highly recommend a visit to Katie's Ice Cream and a bruger from A Little Bite of Everything.

This is a lovely park. Arrived in the afternoon and had enough time to take a short hike before dark. Hiked across the water near the Lodge at the park. I was very nice. Stayed at the Lodge at Montgomery Bell. The next morning continued our self guided tour of the park and went to the Visitors Center. This first visit to this park makes us want to return.

We were there in a 33 ft motorhome with our car behind. Plenty of room to unhook. Camp host greeted us with brochure and directions to our full hook up site. He and the rangers all very nice and helpful. Enjoyed hiking trails and dinner at the conference center restaurant. Will return soon.

Very clean, large, and modern cabin with great outdoor area including a fireplace with firewood provided and a natural gas grill with utensils provided. Fireplace did not draw well, though. Cabin was clean with lots of towels, well-stocked kitchen and other amenities like trash bags and toilet paper provided. Three TVs although we didn't watch much. Close to golf course, hiking, the inn where the pool is located, yet had a secluded feel. I would advise checking the cabin location as we had to take a lot of stuff down steps when moving in at Cabin 157. There was a minor issue with the air conditioning and maintenance was very responsive, especially since it was a holiday weekend. Things I would change would be more serving bowls and baking sheets in kitchen, mow and weed eat around the cabin, work on the chimney flue and provide better WiFi.

The beauty of this place -- with its beautiful trees, burbling brooks and marked trails running every which way -- made up for the poorly managed WIFI service (note: it wasn't the signal, it was the modem dropping the Internet connection) and an annoying ranger scolding me for holding onto my limping 13+ old Lab's leash. Bottom line, it's a public park run by the government ... "quality guest services" only goes so far.
