The bridge area is currently undergoing renovations. There is no access to the bridge at this time. The Riverwalk is also inaccessible at the bridge right now.

While both Waco Tours inform you about this Chisolm Trail icon, seeing in person the best. Under renovation you can still get photos, see and sense the history of this easy to get to classic.

We were able to walk along the river, but not across the bridge as it is under renovation. There were several homeless people there in the late afternoon. At the entrance you are still able to see the statues for the cattle drive similar to what you see in downtown Dallas/Ft. Worth.

We couldn’t see very much as each end was partitioned off for construction. The statues depicting a cattle drive were interesting and I suspect provide an inviting scene when work is completed.

As others have noted, the bridge is not accessible due to the major renovation that is underway. On the other side of the river is a river walk that runs for several miles with a couple of parks.

The bridge was closed for repairs so we couldn't walk across it. However, we drove to the opposite side of the river, parked and walked up and down the Riverwalk by the bridge. There were several interesting things to see from there including the river, the suspension bridge and several other bridges, the skyline, a veterans memorial, and an old dilapidated observation tower right next to the suspension bridge. Great views from the tower, and some cool murals of MLK too.

Road construction blocked access to the area. The suspension bridge is under renovation which prevents foot traffic.

Construction everywhere could not get near alot. GPS could not keep up with all the detours. Could have lived without

Bridge was going through restoration work. Bridge being temporarily supported and Suspension cables were removed. We were going to walk a ways on the River Walk but because of the Construction and poor signage etc we gave up. Lots of trash/debris at waters edge all along the area we did walk. Not very appealing to someone who reads the brochure and decides to come down for a nice stroll along the Downtown area of the Riverwalk.

Is it a safe place to go a walk the area? Also how far from the Texas Ranger Museum is it?

I cannot answer about the distance to the museum. Is it safe ? Well we walked after dark and during the day. The day I felt very safe no issues what so ever. After dark there was a little more unnerving. Not that I felt unsafe but too many people walking around asking for money while there is a certain beauty at night with the lights I would opt for more the day light hours.

I've seen people using hammocks in the park. As long as you don't damage the trees, and you don't stay past park closing time, you'll be fine.

I don't believe it is prohibited, but the bridge is constructed of wooden slats and is pretty uneven. It might not be very fun to skate on.

it is flanked by two parks. Indian Spring Park on one end and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on the other. There is also the Bledsoe Miller Clubhouse on one side, which is close to the location for the Doris Miller Memorial. So you could say that is between the Suspension Bridge and the Clubhouse.
