Bharat Mandir is an ancient Hindu temple that was mentioned in the Mahabharata. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu and the main idol is of Vishnu carved out of a single piece of Saligram. To be honest the temple didn’t seem that special to me, but I guess you have to be a devotee to really appreciate it.

Beautifully maintained temple, by Ganges is really amazing. Serious large hall, open architecture and artistic stonework. A small museum on front provides connection to its oldness. When you see it, difficult to believe that it can be 1200 years old.

Bharat Mandir or Hrishikesh Bhagwan Mandir built in 789 A.D by Jagadguru Shankaracharya is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. City name comes from Hrishikesh. Temple premises have a small museum of old sculptures dating from 2nd A.D to 16th A.D

One of the oldest temples in Rishikesh we visited in the late afternoon. Do not miss the museum right off to the side at the entrance.

Bharat mandir is one of the ancient temple of india.
Main attraction of bharat mandir is the idol of temple itself. Idol is made up of a giant scarce ammonite fossil..it is said that this type of giant ammonite can only be seen at three places namely 1. Badrinath temple 2. Tirupati balaji 3. Bharat mandir.

we had the most blissful experience in this monastery, not to miss the little museum inside! i love the back side carvings on the wall.. we sat and meditated also after circling the building. i love just this place and love that huge tree!
