Rishikesh might be known for being the yoga capital of the world, but a hike to the nearby Neergarh Waterfalls is a great option for those looking to explore the countryside of the region.
Neergarh waterfall is the most famous waterfall in Rishikesh which can amaze you with its view and test your stamina with its hard trek. 4.5 km drive from Lakshman Jhula Road to Neergarh waterfall. You can either go by your personal vehicle, a cab or rent a scooter for 500 rupees a day.
Fee: 30 rupees Ticket charged as an entrance fee.
Neer Garh Waterfall is a real beauty to witness. Amalgam of three stunning waterfalls combine to make this one mighty waterfall, which falls off a cliff as high as 25 feet.
You can also trek this fall- Most visitors tend to start trekking from the famous Laxman Jhula Bridge. It’s a fairly straightforward, patched, uphill road, before reaching the entrance and following the forest trail for the final 20 minutes of the trek.

The waterfall was very dirty and unhygienic. I suggest not to visit during the summer months. We went in April and the trek was so steep and dangerous. The water was extremely dirty. The rainy season of Uttarakhand would be a good time to visit.

We did about 3 horse swings at Neel Waterfall and enjoyed. We went to the topmost waterfall. The water that surrounds the waterfall here will be about 8 feet deep and almost 3 feet from everywhere else. I had a lot of fun swimming and found a great place for a photoshoot.
Nice place for Couples as well as families and groups.
One of my suggestions for the development of this place- More than 1000 people visit this place every day and they charge 30 rupees per person per visit i.e. around 30000 per day and I get more than 9 lakhs per month but I don't think so much money is spent on this place would be going.

We visited this place in the afternoon around 1:00 pm.The place was crowded and it was hot .it was a short Trek of about twenty minutes but doable.veey elderly might not be able to do it.Chaehes are 50 rupees. There are three levels with small stalls for maggi and tea at each level.we managed to find fifteen minutes when there was no crowd around the place and got drenched under the clean but icy cold water. There were no changing rooms but we still loved the experience.Lots of fun !

As a tourist it’s 50 rupees to get in but it’s worth the money. The waterfalls are beautiful and there’s lots of places for swimming as well as cafes where you can stop for chai and/or a snack.
Obviously it is a bit of a climb up to the falls but it’s manageable - agree with other reviews though about wearing sensible walking/hiking shoes.

Is it safe for families, I mean how's the security arrangements there
投稿日:2019年3月23日
Yes, I believe that it is safe for families. It is not hard and it is not long, unless you choose to go to the hilltop village that is way past the top of the trail (There is a mountainside Hindu temple up there). As for security, there is only a ticket booth near, but not AT the bottom, and there are about three small kiosks with people selling cold drinks and snacks, but of course, they are not security personnel. There is no fencing on the trail but there are two great places along the way and at the first "top" stop to swim! Enjoy! (I just read in the news here in the States that your city just hosted the TEST Cricket Matches!)

Waterfall area will be nice for mid may. However you might face hot and humid weather throught the day if it is not a rainy season.

Is this Neer Garh Trek suitable for a family with a 7yrs old child and an one year old baby, from hiking point of view?
投稿日:2018年3月9日
Hi there, actually its not much of a 'hike' on a trail, rather you walk along the highway from town for about 20/30 mins (or you can drive) and when you reach the sign and entry point it is a very steep gravel road with switchbacks-also about 20/30 mins. then you see a sign on the left and walk a few steps to reach neer garh waterfall. the only view is the small waterfall. I would only suggest talking a 7yr old part way, or maybe even drive the whole way if it is a hot day or are tired. driving it would be very near. I think people like to walk as the highway follows the river and its nice if you can put up with the cars.

Depends on where you are going in northern India. In July/August Deli is HOT so go north! But we went to Rishikesh to see the Ganges and the religious symbolism or honor it has in the life, and daily life of some, Sikh temples (we were welcomed in for song/dance/music and free meals) and the ashram the Beatles studied at.
We went further north to Shimla then Manali (great place in the cooler mountains) then took a bus across the Himalayas with snow and glaciers at 17,500 ft (July 29) and up to Leh where it was cool enough for a long sleeve shirt (65-70) but a refreshing break from Delhi.
The National Highway from Manali to Leh is ONLY open from June to Oct and the 300 Mile trip takes 20 hours (2 day trip each way but it’s cheap) but I really recommend it as a once in a lifetime trip! Unbelievable colors in the mountains above the tree line, at one point I saw 8 very high cascading waterfalls at one time and it’s just overwhelming in its uniqueness.

Does the walk in include steep climbs? (I'm a bit afraid of heights)
投稿日:2015年8月9日
Steep grade steps for sure. Don't think they would worry someone afraid of heights.Just take your time
