The tour of the city is fast. We planned to spend the afternoon there. Luckily there was a play area for children with inflatable games, otherwise we would have left after 2 hours...

A superb walk through this old town that has a crazy charm! All the streets have a hell of a feel and all the nooks and crannies are charming
We loved it and the top person at that time between holidays and Olympics.
I strongly advise you to put on your shoes because paved street everywhere!

A quiet, beautiful, captivating old town, with two flaws:
- on the one hand the cars are too present
- on the other hand the closed cathedral
It's a pleasure walk, which needs to be optimized.

It's okay, but it's nothing to write home about either. Almost everything closed and little atmosphere. Many cars that spoil the neighborhoods. It disappointed us quite a bit.

We have stayed in Senlis for two weeks. I just love it. Everyday we have walked and discovered new little areas.
Historic Senlis - the cobblestone streets twist and turn in so many different directions. There are castle ruins, cathedrals, churches, shops, and restaurants to explore. We have walked hour around there. On Tuesdays and Fridays there are farmers markets to buy fresh produce, meat, olives and other things.
The Senlis community has created wonderful parks and walking trails for people. There is one that has a mile line loop around a pond. Another that meanders by a stream and the old railroad has been turned into a walking or riding trail. All are absolutely beautiful and well maintained.
I know the town is a day trip but I would recommend a two day stay at one of the hotels. To be able to explore the city properly along with the outlying area!
Don’t miss out on the gem!

We enjoyed walking through the narrow streets of the oldest part of the town where 3rd century Roman walls can still be seen. The town is a nice mix of old (11th century through 15th century) buildings and modern shops.

We went to Senlis on a Sunday and at first, we thought we had really messed up. Almost everything was closed. But we soon decided it was a fantastic way to experience the little town. We got some amazing photos, and it was so peaceful. A welcome break from Paris. We found an amazing bakery that had such gorgeous and unbelievably good pasties, deserts and breads.
While walking around we met a super nice man who asked if we were needing help finding something. We told him were simply exploring and he chatted with us for probably 15 minutes about his quaint town. It was so nice to meet him. Later we had a nice local notice we had been turned away at a restaurant she was leaving, and she suggested another place and told us how to get there. We were very glad she did, it was a great meal at a good price.
Honestly, Senlis was my favorite of our five days away from Paris. I only wish we had allotted two days instead o just one. Some people might not like the quietness of a Sunday visit, so they should definitely go on another day.

The old town is indeed very attractive - paved/cobbled, narrow, winding streets and the small square with the cathedral and bishop's palace (=now museum). The ancient Captian palace remains are a stunning find!
HOWEVER car parking can be difficult, especially on market day mornings when the streets are literally rammed with parked cars and getting a space is really in the lap of the gods - or multiple trips round (and round and round....) trying to shoe-horn into any space.
The corollary to this is that every view down any street is marred by the sight of nothing but lines of traffic. Really spoils the atmosphere.
But go there if you can put up with all this - it is a very nice town.
