One person wrote the Picasso Pavilion is closed for renovation till July 2019- what would we be missing out on given the closure?
The Picasso exhibits have been moved to the Main Gallery so you can still see them. The rest of the Park has a lot more sculptures. Worth a visit.
I remember there is only a few Picasso's inside the pavillion. So even with it closed you won't miss much. The Open-air museum itself is worth a visit, particularly on fairweather days.
As far as I was concerned the Picasso pavilion was the least of the Hakone Open-air Museum. If you've seen the Picasso's in Paris or Madrid or... then you will miss little here. The grounds and the outdoor sculptures are well worth a visit. So I would say go and enjoy.
As above
Although the exhibition is very good
There is so much more to see with lots of little surprises if you explore
The museum is vast and too much to take in in one visit, so you probably won’t notice unless Picasso is your major reason to go.
While it was a nice exhibit you won’t be disappointed with the other art on the expansive grounds. Still worth a visit.
I agree with the others. The park Itself is the reason to go. We were unaware if the Picasso museum when we visited so it was a nice surprise however we enjoyed the outdoor sculptures more. If the paintings are still available to view then you won’t miss anything as the building itself wasn’t special. I hope the renovations will make the building a sculpture as well. Definitely visit the sculptures gardens. You won’t regret It.
