I had stayed the Shiozawa Edogawa-sou many times from the time when I was a child, but I haven’t stayed there in recent years. Therefore, if I gave different information (changed things), I’m sorry.
The inn’s location is in a mountain at Minami-uonuma city in Niigata Prefecture. Niigata Prefecture is famous for Koshihikari which is a famous rice brand, so you can enjoy eating delicious rice when you have meals at the inn. Also, you don’t need to mind the noise of traffic, because the inn is located in the mountain. Therefore, you can spend your time quietly with the sound of nature. The inn has a restaurant, two tennis courts, a courtyard, a karaoke area, some coin laundries and a campsite. When I camped there about 5 years ago, I could camp for 500 yen per a person, but now you need to spend for 1500 yen per a person. You can take a bath at a public bath in the inn at night when you camp. Also, you can rent a tent and some sleeping bags.
This inn is very comfortable and reasonable. The inn’s lobby is expansive and very clean. There are a table tennis area and a game area in the inn. Therefore, when you stay with children, you and your kids can enjoy playing these.
Each of room which you stay is used tatami, and the room supplies towels, toothbrushes, a toilet, a refrigerator and yukatas(Japanese robe). Also, there are some Yubeshi which is a kind of Japanese sweets including walnuts as a service. I like it very much because the texture and the moderate sweetness attract me. The inn doesn’t have an individual bath, but you can take a bath at the public baths. There is only one mist sauna. I like it very much because it makes me relaxed. However, the public baths change daily between men’s and women’s. When you can use the comfortable mist sauna, you are very lucky.
Most of staff members are very kind, and they offer wonderful services for you, but some of staff members are not kind. For example, I ordered a yukata for children, but a staff said to me “We don’t have it.” Actually, there are no yukata for children, but there are some small size of yukatas. Therefore, I wanted the staff to supply it instead of a yukata for children.
When you want to stay pleasantly at a reasonable price in Niigata, I recommend this inn. You should stay there once in your life. You will be able to spend memorable time.
