Good location in the middle of Iya Valley, walking by stairs to Kazurabashi Vine Bridge. The owner is very helpful. He organized for us rental car from Oboke train station. If you want to visit Iya Valley, due to limited bus transport you need a car. Driving is not so easy because of narrow road, but everybody drive slowly and carefully.
The guesthouse is good equipped – small kitchen, washing machine free for use, nice terrace. Rooms are typical Japanese style – futon on tatami floor. The common living room, with free tea and coffee.

Pros:
- very spacious family room with private toilet and spacious common areas to meet and interact with other guests
- complimentary washing machine and dryer which is very handy after a few days of hiking
- Roof terrace with hammocks to sit and relax underneath the stars
- near the bus stop if you want to catch a bus from Oboke station (although buses are quite infrequent)
- basically across the road from the vine bridge
- good shower (shared) with toiletries and towels provided
- generally very clean and homely
- great hotel manager who very kindly went out of his way to help us out (thank you so so much Takuya!)
Cons (but these are all advised beforehand so not really cons!)
- cash only payment for accommodation
- limited food options in the area so bring your own meals and snacks (full kitchen available at guesthouse)
- you sleep on tatami mats (which is comfortable) but the pillow provided was quite hard to get used to (for me) being the type made of beads. Otherwise, I just slept without the pillow which was fine.
Overall, would recommend staying here again but will probably hire a car next time just to make it easier to explore the area, despite the narrow roads.
