How can I say that the JW Marriott in Guanacaste is most likely one of the best hotels I have ever visited! My husband insisted that I write a review of this property because of the level of service all of them provided. We made...続きを読む
The property is gorgeous with a Spanish theme, epic pool and very comfortable rooms. We stayed in a room right on the beach and loved the epic sunsets.
The only gripe is that the location is fairly remote. Diria National Park is nearby but other...続きを読む
Couldn't ask for better regarding comfort and staff. Sunset view from a common area balcony and the beach was outstanding. The pool is quite large and meandering with plenty of lounge chairs. We were with a tour group so I'm not certain about restaurants as...続きを読む
We spend a glorious week at the hotel.
Background is that we have stayed at the Ritz in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Puerto Rico, also the Marriott in San Juan Puerto Rico and Aruba.
This was by far the best.

I just booked this resort for 5 nights in August. It's my wife's birthday and we've never had the pleasure to experience Costa Rica. Very Excited. I've always enjoyed my stays at JW's (Gold member) but reading some of the reviews I'm growing concerned. Wondering if better to switch to different Marriott Property or go somewhere else entirely. Help me feel better!

We stayed at both the JW and El Mangrove in Playa Panama. We preferred El Mangrove. The difference is as follows. The JW is a very nice resort (great pool, expensive restaurants, beautiful location-ocean is a bit rough for swimming). But you need a car to see anything else or pay for a trip to Tamarindo. Tamarindo is a typical tourist destination. Lots of places to eat, tourist shops, nice beach. Playa panama is quieter and in my opinion prettier. Again you need a car to go to Hermosa or Coco, but you're also closer to the Rincon National Park and volcano which has hiking and some fun activities. Ultimately it's a matter of personal preference. We liked the smaller quainter side of Playa Panama/Hermosa.
Cost per week?

Hi, Booked a garden view room from April 9th-12th. If ocean fronts are available at the time of checking in can I get them?

We were unable to upgrade. Not sure if it was because we were staying on Marriott points, but they simply said "we're fully booked." I would definitely try though, we had garden view and would have much preferred ocean view... 続きを読む
