You'd better not expect such as nice accommodation but this place has very traditional Japanese style and you could feel what people lived long time ago. Some shukubo in Koyasan are too much decorations but this place keep their style for long time. Note that their check-in time is only between 16:00-17:00 and need to be booked by phone.
For the first night at Koyasan we stayed at Ekoin temple, which was simply wonderful. In order to save a little money, we chose Haryoin for the second night, but were very disappointed. The temple and the rooms were dirty, spiderwebs everywhere, and in the evening we found two huge spiders in the hallway right in front of our rooms. There were other small creatures in the room, too, which made us feel very uncomforable during the night. As said before, the rooms were in a separate building, the view outside the window was blocked by a concrete wall. The room had a strange smell, which we could improve with incense sticks we asked for. I can also confirm the cold water at the wash basins. The toilets were not very pleasant either. Towels are not provided. The good thing to mention is the location, there is a bus stop right in front of the temple, and it's only 2 stops to the cable car station.
We neither had the meals nor joined the ceremonies, so I cannot say anything about that. I strongly recommend staying at a different temple, even if it is more expensive! Koyasan was lovely except that night in Haryoin.
