Miss Ivy who owns and operates Authentic Village hotel is a wonderful host and amazing cook. She has renovated an abandoned hotel and turned it into a peaceful haven outside of town. The down town San Ignacio is hopping with restaurants and bars and friendly vendors. It is super easy to grab a cab for 1.50 US each way to town. There is a gorgeous river across the street to swim and cool off. There is a clean and cool Pool on site. Miss Ivy makes a wonderful traditional belizian breakfast each morning included in your super affordable rate. The two young men who work for her are Rockeem and Alden were so polite and kind. They were also fun to hang out with. They are from a Garifuna tribe and play drums at Miss Ivy’s yummy authentic restaurant in town. This hotel is DIRECTLY across the street from the Xunantunich Ferry which takes you to the park to view the Mayan temple . Nothing but good things to say about Authentic Village hotel and the San Ignacio town people. …
This is a new hotel, and it is absolutely amazing. Just a stones throw away from the hand ferry to Xunantunich, next to the river with a small beach. The hotel has large clean rooms, a swimming pool and an amazing home-cooked breakfast each morning. We could see (and hear) the Howler Monkeys from the hotel garden. It’s clean and the staff are lovely. By far the best I’ve stayed in in Belize.
