Our first visit to Normandy. Good location. Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Tiny bathroom, I am large and this was a bit cramped. All fixtures were recently updated. Don't bring large luggage. Priced appropriately.
Breakfast continental was overpriced but all food was fresh and available.
Stayed at the hotel with a tour group. Received a standard room with twin beds. The room was clean and decent.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Spoke fluent English.
Breakfast was included and again, decent selection. The usual breakfast for a French hotel. Selection...続きを読む
Of course, more than one and if I well remember they have large doors.
What is the cost for parking?
Greetings, we are looking for a great hotel for our trip to Normandie from Paris approx. May25-May28, 2017. The reviews look great esp. mention of the friendliness of the staff. My wife and I are in our mid-60's and can do the walk from the train station to the hotel..I think!! Excellent and budget friendly tours will be needed to St,Michel and to the Normandie beaches (lost a relative on Omaha). Should we book any tours in advance or can we do that through your hotel when we arrive?? I read about some good rooms there and some not so good rooms...will we have any discretion in what rooms we stay in?
Please advise...hotel looks good!!

We were very happy with the Royal Hotel and walked all over the city. We are in our late 60s but love to walk. I don't have any comment on room choice; we took what they gave us which overlooked the street. It was not noisy when we were there, but it was cool at night and not the weekend.
If you have luggage, I would recommend getting a cab to the hotel. It is a walk-able distance but city streets are not easy with luggage even with wheels.
We booked our tours through the local tourist office after we arrived. The Peace Museum is fantastic and we took the city bus to get there. We took the tour offered through the Museum to go to the beaches and the cemetery. Otherwise, Caen is a very walk-able city with a lot to see. We also took the train to Bayeux to see the Tapestry and other sights.
Renting a car to go on your own to see the beaches and to have more time is another option. After 3 days in Caen, we rented a car and went back to the cemetery and to one of the other beaches as we left to go further on our trip.
"Rooms on the side of the street can be noisy if windows are open and there are activities outside."
