Ce qu'on a aimé :
- le cadre très verdoyant et luxuriant et les bungalow très mignons
- le restaurant au dessus de la Riviere, de bonne qualité
- la sympathie des patrons
- wifi partout

Ce qu'on a moins aimé :
- l'absence de couverture (une grande serviette à la place, bizarre..)
- la salle de bain très sommaire
- la ville de surah Tani est globalement sans attrait

Incantevole motel

Ne ero rimasta affascinata vedendo le foto sul sito ma dato il prezzo bassissimo temevamo una delusione. Invece ha superato qualsiasi aspettativa... stentavamo a crederci.
Il posto tanto per cominciare è davvero incantevole, nel bel mezzo del nulla.. Affacciato sul fiume e immerso nella giungla. (Non è affatto dove appare sulla mappa, credevo fosse a pochi passi dal molo d'arrivo invece è a un'ora di pullman da Suratthani più altri 40 minuti di taxi le informazioni date da booking estremamente fuorvianti...)
Il bungalow poi sorprendente : tutto nuovo di zecca, pulitissimo e confortevole. C'era perfino il bollitore con tè e caffè a disposizione ! Letto comodissimo e bagno spazioso.
Un cadre bucolico e affascinante : una fila di 6 bungalow affacciati su un giardino con tanto di altarino per gli antenati con galli, galline e pulcini che gironzolano. E in fondo c'è il ristorante :una ampia terrazza coperta sul fiume dove si gode di un panorama mozzafiato. " Il miglior ristorante della città" ci ha assicurato l'impiegata della Lomprayah Catamarani che, all'arrivo a Suratthani città ci ha accolti e ci ha procurato un taxi per raggiungerlo.( E prenotato un taxi per la mattina dopo per arrivare in aeroporto....) Tutti i problemi risolti in un attimo,proprio quando eravamo spaesati e temevamo il peggio. Ci chiedevamo : dove siamo arrivati?
Beh, eravamo arrivati in paradiso, un autentico paradiso. Dove la proprietaria e le tre belle figlie, ci hanno accolti in modo simpatico e disinvolto, pur senza spiccicare una sola parola d'inglese. Erano ormai le 4 del pomeriggio ed eravamo in viaggio fin dall'alba. Ci hanno subito fatti accomodare al ristorante e servito un indimenticabile pranzo a base di granchio e frutti di mare.
Il tutto allietato dalla musica del karaoke, dove su un palco la graziosa ostessa si è esibita in minigonna, rendendo il tutto davvero divertente e surreale. Troppo bello per essere vero ! Invece era tutto vero. Un posto incredibilmente autentico e un'esperienza unica. Vale decisamente il détour.
Altro dettaglio edificante : il viaggio in tuk-tuk fino all'aeroporto il giorno dopo è stato uno dei tragitti più panoramici e memorabili vissuti in Thailandia. Un gran finale.

Potential to improve

The staff and management at this resort have good intentions but urgently require better advice and guidance about how to make the necessary changes to attract visitors. Also the addition of English speaking staff would be a huge asset.
We arrived very late at night, after being literally ‘hijacked’ at the train station by taxi- type people touting for business. The fact that these men never knew where the resort was,(though pretended by bluffing their way through this by taking us elsewhere!), and the fact that Google Maps has the resort incorrectly located, did not help at all!
The setting is most interesting, located on the edge of the jungle and right on the river. Definitely NOT a "Seafood Resort!" in fact not a resort of any kind. Rooms are individual small huts of traditional design of a good size with traditional furnishings. The only covering on the bed was a heavy towelling blanket which did not cover two people when lying down. The toilet and shower are located in a ‘wet room’ with the floor sloping towards the door and the toilet at the far end. Breakfast is not available before 10am which is too late to make a connection for the early ferry to Koh Samui.
We had to arrange breakfast earlier ( which was almost inedible) and prepay the night previously for a transfer with some rather dodgy characters on the back of an open ute into the town. They refused to take us to the bus station and left us at a "travel office". From where we had to pay yet again to get to the Ferry after purchasing an all inclusive ticket from BKK railway and these "taxi" drivers the night before. All in all not a great experience and not one we wish to repeat.

But Floating Island has unrealised potential.
