Shiraume blew my mind. It’s so over-the-top amazing that it makes other places where I’d previously left 5 star ratings seem less than 5 stars. The room, the location, the amenities, the food, the service - everything was 5 stars. Tomoko-San is the most gracious and warm hostess, and her team took care of our every need to perfection. If you’re lucky enough to get a room here, just book it. It will be the stay of a lifetime. I am already dreaming of my next stay at Shiraume. Thank you so much Tomoko-San, Yuki-San and Amy-San!
My friends and I stayed here in April of this year for one night. We stayed in the Umegae room, and it was spectacular. There were two bathrooms, an area for dining, the sleep area, and even another area to sit and relax and have one of beverages from the mini-fridge (which was all free, by the way). We had a terrific view of the stream, and at one point, there was even a crane bird just hanging out on the stream. Amazing! From the moment we entered this establishment, we were welcomed by the kindest, most hospitable people who truly made this stay one of the best travel experiences of my life. First off, the area itself is beautiful. Taking a taxi from Kyoto Station, the city itself looked like other cities we'd been to - crowded with narrow streets. And then we entered the…
I am so glad we were able to stay here. The care and attention to every aspect of our visit was amazing. Our room, bed, meals were all so special. However the highlight has to be the sincere commitment by all the staff to our wellbeing and Kyoto experience . So many little personal touches; no need for us to spoil the surprise of what awaits you when you step into Shiraume. Thank you so much to all. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay here!
My bother and I were in Kyoto for 3 nights in the middle of May. Rooms were unavailable at the Shiraume property, but we were accommodated in the Baian house located nearby which was a luxurious and traditional ryokan. Everything about this trip was a dream, and I still haven't recovered. I feel it is important to discuss something very special about our trip that hasn't been mentioned very much. On our first night, Tomoko-San arranged for us to have a traditional kaiseki dinner with melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef. While the meal was delicious, it would not have been the same without the accompaniment of Geisha. If you are in any way able to afford this, it is simply a must. We enjoyed a private dinner in the inn, complete with a translator named Greg, a geisha named Danka-san,…
My wife and I stayed at Shiraume for one night on the first night of our Japan trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Umeichirin room, which was extremely spacious, with a separate living/dining room and bedroom. The futon was very comfortable. Meals at Shiraume, both the in-room kaiseki and the breakfast, were fantastic. We both ordered the Japanese breakfast, though there is also a western option. I appreciated how each dish was explained – both what all was contained in the dish and the significance of the dish – this made each meal a good learning experience. Shiraume's location is top-notch – it is on a beautiful street in the heart of Gion. We had a fantastic stay at Shiraume, and I highly recommend it. I wish that we had stayed here another night.
