Me and my boyfriend stayed unfortunately only one night at this awsome place. Everything was perfect and I need to go back som day. The owner Tomoko is an amazing person. You can contact her at tomoko- We didn't have private bathroom but it wasn't any problem at all. [--] The location is great and I would really recommend staying at Shiraume.
2008年10月京都へ80歳の母と二人で出掛けました。まずは京都御所近辺のホテルに泊まり最後の2泊を「料理旅館 白梅｣さんにお世話になりました。祇園の白川の辺と言う最高のロケーション,古い建物を上手く使い続ける京都の知恵と意地を感じさせてくれる建物と内装です。入り口は白川に架かる専用橋を渡り暖簾をくぐり...もうこれだけで「そう今私は京都へ来た！！｣最高の気分。宿泊前になんだか嬉しくてわくわくしたのは随分と久しぶり。何も考えずに日程を決めてから「時代祭り｣開催期間だと気づくのんびり旅行でしたが幸運にも「白梅」さんに空きがあり一段と楽しい母との二人旅になりました。部屋は1階で白川がすぐ窓の下を流れ二人なら丁度よい広さ。トイレは部屋から出てすぐの廊下奥,お風呂は家族風呂でのんびりと旅の疲れを癒す事ができました。夕食はタイミングよく部屋に運ばれ季節を感じさせる満足のゆく懐石。朝食は京の贅沢な朝ごはん＋美味しいコーヒー,白川を眺めながらの何度でも食べたい素敵な時間でした。若女将は英語が堪能で国外からのお客様も心地よく過ごせると思いますよ。でも背の高い方は頭上注意かな。人の好みにより評価が分かれるところですが「ゆったりと京都 祇園の風情と味と人と歴史｣を楽しみたい方には心からお勧めします。 帰る日の朝食を残した母のために綺麗なお弁当にして持たせて下さった心遣いに深く感謝♥梅の咲く頃再訪したいと思っております。
Our family of four, 2 adults and 13 and 17 year old boys were thrilled with our stay at Shiraume Ryokan. (We are a family that travels light and likes to enjoy a country for what it is. Since we come from America we try to avoid what we will find at home and rather soak up the local flavor and history.) We were apprehensive with our first trip to Japan and a stay at a ryokan rather than a hotel but were rewarded with a wonderful stay. Shiraume is located in the Gion area, which in itself has a unique, old-town feel. The inn is located along the Shirakawa Canal and a little bridge leads you to the front door and entrance. We found it very hard to choose a ryokan for our first visit to Kyoto, the big 'famous' ones sounded good but we didn't want to stay somewhere full of Westerners - so we picked Shiraume, which got a good write up on concierge.com but their website (http://www.shiraume-kyoto.jp/jpn/index.html) doesn't work in English so we figured it wouldn't be too 'Westernised'. I sent a fax asking for a reservation and the reply was a little slow, but eventually I got an email from the manager Tomoko who is LOVELY and speaks very good English. We made a booking, and were very glad we did, it is a really wonderful place. It is in a great location in Gion, on a quiet cobblestoned street, and you have to cross a little canal to get to it.
